I remember waiting eagerly on an application to DTA, only to have them become Phoenix Reborn (or something like that) mere days after when the Dirty Dozen Empire disbanded.

and i remember when 30m army was HUGE. (I may have started a bit after some of you GA/UTA/CF era folks, but still... times sure have changed a hell of a lot in that time)
