It hurts me to say this but in terms of ability I think its Couzens.

I could also say R8 but I still think he's just hiding a four leaved clover thus is excluded for cheatage.

Furthermore I could say Thamuz but I firmly believe he is a machine thus is also excluded.

JUAN was a great player. A mover and a shaker of the first degree. For a very long time, had an account which was considerably more powerful than any other in the game. On top of that, he took on some of the most powerful and supposedly elite factions in the game head on. If he isn't one of the greatest player of all time, then I don't know who is.

Should being a cheat disqualify him? This is a thread about players, not saints. A player is someone who plays the game; and not playing it to the exact letter of the rules doesn't disqualify you from that. Personally, I think a good third of the players already suggested were cheats. Plenty of them were at it in the early days. I know of a few names who'd surprise you.

I have your back on this one tbh Mordack. JUAN was quite possibly the best player to come through the game and I would think only Esker or ETL could even be considered as potential candidates for the right to be called his equals. If I had to choose one it'd be him or ETL anyway.

I always had a list of 10 individuals who I believe have been integral to SGW over the years in some form or another, they didn't just farm and mass they were leaders, personalities and they played every aspect of the game from it's politics to it's fighting, to it's building and beyond...they are not equals even amongst themselves but they're the top in my opinion, the top true players.

In later years I have thought about expanding the list a bit... to include R8 (the hail mary), DR (the baking soldier), Mordack (the synical eccentric), Diamond Dust (the dusty drunkard), Deni (the thieving furher), Orph (the sex-eh hammer), Clarkey (the ascended hunter), Jake (the replinuke), Psi (the bip-mod) and maybe even Jack (the deleted spammer) or Bad Wolf (the man behind the curtain). But i'm not settled on that yet.

My own greats would be some of the great massers, leaders and farmers i have seen and not just whats said on the forums (some just dont be noticed yet do a hell of alot without having to post all over the forums about it )

Easy - One hell of a leader, never takes crap from anyone and has an allaince built playing the way he always wanted them too.
Couzens - A fantastic masser, turned some of the biggest players to ruble within seconds while they were online.
Brothers/Mezz - probably one of the best massing duo's i have played with and separtely can hold there own against anyone.
Tekki - One of the brand names of Gatewars, luckily ive never had a run in with her ingame
ETL - Great leader, knows how to control the powerhouse that is OE.

if i ve to pick one one name i d call Robe for her long term being there at high lvl game playing, presence, strategy and innovation each time game changed.

to have the best one its kinda hard cuz in a game like this i d not pick any $ player , too many can afford cash but im on the side of those that dont share the idea for the principles of the free game and personal abilities.

cant make a name cuz its not possible to know if free resources have been given to the one.

glad too see the old fruits mordack and semper on my side

also i just thought of someone else, imho the best 1v1 masser (online battles) of all time

To be the greatest player of all time, you have to shape the game by your actions. Your legacy has to live on from the beginning to the end of the game and you must be able to prove your worth in more than just fighting, but also diplomacy, backroom deals, recruitment and in reinventing yourself to adapt to the continuous changes we all face on here.

Many people have exhibited some of these characteristics. Very few have exhibited all of them. As much as it pains me to say it, for I don't generally like his style or gameplay, but that's not the point, but that player who most lives up to these criteria is EnterTheLion. There has been no alliance that has had more of an impact on this game than the one he created and no player that has been apart of more of the game's major moments.

While I've always been on the opposite side of ETL and quite honestly despise a lot of what he and his creations have done to players in this game, I have to admit, it is quite a special thing to evoke such emotion in so many people in a simple text game. He has done evil very very well.


Now if this was the best player FOR the game instead of the best player in the game, my answer would be a lot different, but that's another story for another time...

For the game would probably have to be Super Saiyan maybe. Never has someone taken in noobs to such a degree as him yet remained level headed, friendly and barely spent a $$, but..if he could would probably prefer to spend those bucks in the BM opposed to player to player transfers... which is an obvious necessity for the best player FOR the game ( I add i'm not slating $$ spending, merely pointing out an obvious direction towards the 'right' spending).

Difficult...and what people are forgetting, this is ALL time...meaning both 6 years ago and today

In this respect, as ETL has always been a powerhouse, has one of the largest accounts in both servers.

There are other greats...just not as dominating that said, most people playing have not been here 6 years...so there will always be a difference in opinion

There are no Greatest, all the greats have had times of inactivities. Well maybe Robe but (anyways)

Rule changes ( I'd say myself with the Turn Cap, and the lifer rules.
For the Population cap, ( Repiljake, Reborn, STI brothers did alot to that)
For the annoying rules that limited growth ( Robe jk)
For unending leadership at hand's length ETL ( and for getting admin to listen in the early years)

Anyways point i was trying to make is there are no true greats, and everyone is getting long in the tooth.

P.S

If we raise the population cap to 10 bil, then we can see who the next greats are. Cause right now everyone is pretty close in power, even if we aren't close in "levels"

id probably have to go with JT and feri as 2 of the greatest. it really is hard to pick just 2, but i feel they have had some of the biggest impact, and held great change in game.

there are many others such as robe, tekki, etl, fm, yoyo, c2, lithium, cuz, r8, kikaz ect that have done a lot, but i picked the 2 i feel did a great deal off what i have seen first hand.

For me.... the list is....

1. Feri and JT... yes bcz they belong to numb one so this is a tie....
