I personally hate most txt speech and especially people who cApItPLizE at random, but I do also sometimes use dumbed down english as a joke or as a means to insult people not smart enough to realize

But I also find that with everyone else using txt speech my spelling improves, as every time I see a misspelled word or abbreviation I correct it in my head... Also the general lack of people not being able to spell or comprehend basic english can be blamed on the decrease in youth actually reading articles or books of substance

Just my opinion

Edit: Also people that say LOL and OMG while they speak deserve to be punched in the throat

It's amusing, people complaining about txt speak and poor grammar all the while forgetting to punctuate their initializations. :-"

I hate it when it is spoken aloud. My cousin does this all the time.

I do love text talk on personalized vehicle license plates. It makes them easy to remember when I have to call the cops or file a report.

Nope. At least not NATO. Acronyms of organizations cannot be compared to texting.

I cannot imagine people talking about cold war for example saying:

"The Union of Socialist Soviet Republics are currently in indirect conflict with North Atlantic Treaty Organization..." :-"
Well they might do so once to make clear what the acronyms refer to, but imagine a full speech filled with these acronyms where you would repeat them as above every single time...

They are acronyms and initializations spoken aloud. OMG is an initialization, as well as TV. They are no different except that most/all of you grew up hearing people call a television a TV and so now you find that it is acceptable whereas people are only just now using the initialization of oh my god. There is no difference.

It is hypocritical to say that one abbreviation is okay but a similar abbreviation is not.

If it is not okay to take a group of words and abbreviate them today, then it was not okay X amount of years ago.

You lot insult me, yet Pops is the only one that has even attempted to put forth a ration and intelligent counter argument, no matter how flawed. He also hasn't slung any insults. Correlation?

Now, do you lot care to have an intelligent conversation by attempting to back up your claims and opinions with facts backed by credible sources or at least intelligent arguments, or are you going to continue throwing insults and failing to support any of your claims?
