That's a bit of a leap. I gave up on farming, and so did two other people I spoke to, and if that is even remotely true in norm (or the more extreme broken image links and logging outs) I imagine the naq is increased significantly because both scripters and genuine players are affected.

Takes forever to load, what a waste of time. Plus, I can't be lazy and input random numbers into my MS slots. :smt010

Font size got changed, looks more readable now. Still lag on the loading but even on my crappy connection, I'm able to go about normal farming business pretty much.

You guys aren't on dial-up are you?? (unless you're too young to know what dial-up is.. then nevermind the joke)

I know what Dial-Up is so I doubt they wouldn't.

Also - with the quick buttons have they defo been turned on for you?

farming is difficult, but learnable for me...

as always, if it hurts your eyes, your body is sending you a warning:

one that I did not heed back in 2000, at a video arcade room at school,

and ended up having a grand mal seizure,
and a trip to the ER... and a fat bill. not fun.
caffiene, lack of sleep,
along with a predisposition that I should have investigated earlier filled in most of the causes...
but the video arcade was the ultimate trigger...
and there were no strobe lights involved...
just 1 brightly lit screen in a race car game moving very fast...

As for more benign issues:

Is anyone having problems with spy reports showing courier new? :P

or blank spaces instead of ??? or numbers?

been spying some of my very low covert farms... not impressed. ](*,)

** UPDATE: from what i can tell, most of the low covert targets had the numbers... or ??? marks...

but they were not immediately available on account of the image loading process... #-o
but they are present in the intel logs, after i do not really need them anymore. :smt023

on the higher covert targets, it's more hit and miss... sometimes the data / ??? show up...

and sometimes nothing ever appears...

including data that should currently be held in reports from 8 - 9 - 10 days ago...

So I actually lost data that I had then. :smt107 :smt100

Perhaps we could reduce the page load times by reducing the images.

What if, rather than the entire amount being an image, only the numbers infront of the first "," be an image.
Assuming most account have over 1B naq out (pretty easy really), and less than 1T (again, only really happens when on PPT), then you'd save 3/4 of the time, if only the first part was an image, as the image would be 1/4 of the size

[25,000,000,000] image VS
[25,]000,000,000 image+text

1/4 of the size, 1/4 of the load time? ;)

Nope, the thought is good though, but its not really about the size of the images but the sheer amount of them. The PHP GD kicks of a processes that's taken to memory and process/produces the image before it gets outputted.

What could help if someone had a decent class of for imagettftext which could half initialize the base image and with a object command and add the text and output the image with another. If anyone has suggestions or thoughts on it, post some here or sent me a PM and I will look into it as well.

have a cache of the numbers like the login page, and reference the images that way. But don't make the image LIKE the one on login, plain text, just with random file names which the server knows to call for each value. Though programming it would be a ROYAL pain.

Alternatively, have a pre-produced transparent image, which you would just need to load to a function, put text over the top, then spit out, similar to what I did on the origins server (origins.4p5.com) for the active users

well you ninja'd my post sarevok :smt064 below is what i was going to say.
Be easier just to store 0-9 as images and apply them liberally, with the names encoded depending on a certain feature.
Similar to the pin.

Either way, I have a pretty crap speed and it works fine for me (within an decent lag time)
Ohw, thats a nice approach :D

Currently 2 commands are run in gd to create the base image and size and some smaller ones to create the color, just stuffing a predefined gif there might get quite some performance boost..
Will take a look into it this evening :) (working atm)

@Sol, the more images needed to load the more the browser has to process. just imagine the army size and naq, 7 figures the least per image, times 60 .... 420 images ... slow computers will get the down end of that .. not to mention mobile devices.

Derp. Of *course* it can be done in a less obtrusive manner.
Was that ever the point? I mean, as far as anti-scripting goes, this is pretty rudimentary. But it worked, in a way .. before.

#-o

a less obtrusive manner that still uses images to foil scripters.
that's the general idea in this thread.
