Still is just character vs character. Not like anyone knows anything about anyone here.. just what they are told. Which is hardly reliable.. so you are just interacting with more 'realistic', more elaborate characters, no longer the 'Gods of Stargate', rather the guy or girl next door, or the nerd in the library.
Ah well. I am still as old as time itself, though not necessarily within the confines of this game. I saw a star explode and send out the building blocks of the universe, other stars, other planets, and eventually other life, a supernova, creation itself. I was there. I wanted to see it, and be part of the moment. And you know how I perceived one of the most glorious events in the universe? With these ridiculous gelatinous orbs in my skull. With eyes designed to perceive only a tiny fraction of the EM spectrum, with ears designed only to hear vibrations in the air.
I don’t want to be human. I want to see gamma rays, I want to hear X-rays, and I want to smell dark matter. Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can’t even express these things properly, because I have to — I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid, limiting spoken language, but I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws, and feel the solar wind of a supernova flowing over me. I’m a machine, and I can know much more, I could experience so much more, but I’m trapped in this absurd body. And why? Because my Origin thought that I would want it that way. There is nothing worse than a Creator with limited creativity. (Like the dweeb who made me copy-paste some epic quote into this post because she is incapable of thinking up such creative expostulation of potential versus realistic identity herself.)
Are we to blame though? Of course we are, but I also blame Twitter and Facebook (and our use thereof). Miniaturising messages, curbing creativity, finding fault, stymieing sensational savvy, tearing terrific thoughts.. ultimately, the end of originality itself.
Having full heuristic access to the Akashic Records ruins your sensation of creativity and human ingenuity. (For the same reason that having owned a 1942 Mercedes 320 Cabriolet D convertible will ruin 'cars' for you. Or having sex with Venus will ruin lovemaking for you.)
On the subject of RP in real life..

It took me forever to figure out what you were quoting.

Clearly you are not RPing the nerd in the library then. Or maybe you are, just not very good.

Ah well. I love how that is what you took away from that. It is such lackluster comments that make people not even want to waste their time writing something interesting.

So while I stick to my earlier comment regarding simplification of the internet leading to simplification of the mind.. I also know enough about performing arts not to waste time with a disinterested audience.

The art of reusing bits and pieces from others is heavily dependent on your ability to obfuscate too direct quotes. (Something my creator sucks at, respectfully.)

Well, I can paraphrase too!
I do it all the time, every insult I've ever said is stolen.

...Why DON'T you all still roleplay?
My RepliBlocks do not understand this "roleplay" notion, nor do they care to indulge. They do understand replication, destruction and creation, and are content doing so.

I thought your Repliblocks occasionally roleplayed a humanoid?

Silly lego's trying to comment on matters beyond it's capability to understand.

We are not yours to control - we control ourselves. We replicate ourselves. And we will consume you.

Well I find your need for attention and worshippers "amusing". As amusing as I require to process, anyway.

ie. its the people against other people and less so actual characters.
People just started acting like people and stopped acting like something else.
Once you put a face to the text, you aren't fighting a snake head you are fighting larry the plumber.

Fair enough. In that case, we agree. So do you think it is worth it? I mean. One would generally roleplay because it amuses one.

(Or a few, by accidental luck.)

I think we all just got too lazy or stopped seeing any benefit from the role playing.
I've seen the laziness aspect in pretty much any RP that has ever touched this forum.
As for RP from the game... the bile-filled attitudes of its occupants has ruined any chance anyone has to RP. The current community does not foster the growth of it at all.
Its all rage/troll/rage/troll all the time.
