Yeah Wolf we remember all too well...
Still I did like Martin's idea about a moving or real-time status bar or whatever. Like a way to see how everyone is doing in the game.

Darn... MGM would do this to their greatest stargate-fans?

Yes - exactly that! MGM area aware of the game and, as quite correctly pointed out, it was called Stargate Wars and had to be renamed to The Gate Wars - the rest of teh game was allowed to stay as is - but I don'ttheink they will be too happy if we start adding SG visuals.

Nicholai Brocov - I'm not necessarilly opposed to it - I just don't think that visuals are needed - on top of the legal and bandwidth issues - and am pointing out that with the numerous other discussions on this, they have never been implemented.

You can have some good ideas, kyle, but you can have some bad ones too..


Basically, any cheesiness will be worse than nothing at all. Think of a good book that had a bad movie made after it. What killed the movie?? There was probably a cheesiness to it that wasn't in the book.

Anyway, thats just what popped in my head about this suggestion.

why doesnt forum try to get mgm to work with him, going back to the other game, then one made me think of this idea, it was free and was an amatuer game, but it had lucasarts backing. surely mgm would be willing to some sort of deal?

It would look good and forum will not be able to do a deal with MGM because MGM will want like a 75% share of all the profits of the game so forum wont be able to pay for the server etc. Correct me if I am wrong.

hey, im totaly whit the idea of changing visuals, da uwner can beg for mgm support on this, probably they will not agree, but you dont need their images to change the visuals. cmon guys!! there are a lot of cool avatars and banners in the forum, why people doent use that tallent in a contest to make menus and other stuff? i repeat, i dont need to see a mothership there, i just want my menu and the armory to look cool

The menus look reasonably cool anyway, they have colour and are race specific.

I'm sorry, but I just have to nitpick this one.

PROFITS would be after server costs, hosting, etc., etc.


As to my stance on the idea...I'm against it. The game is hard enough to explain to new people without complicating it with graphics.

I am against this because frequently I find myself playing TGW on my HP PDA. Without the complicated interface it takes long enough to load. Besides who wants a carbon copy of ferion?
