Not entirely obsolete yet. There's plenty of countries where broadband cables are not the first priority, and people are lucky to be able to use dial up at all.
As soon as you build an idiot proof system, somebody else builds a better idiot.
If it moves, kill it. If it doesn't move, kick it until it does move, and then kill it.
is it actually possible to code the page to display the dice as first images and THEN to load all other images like the other server images etc. Like this you could at least stop the page to load once you got the dice which would save time for many people. especially dial-up users
from my experience with coding webpages you just move the dice images more "to the front"
