thanks mate, didnt realise i got completely locked out doing that... but it was needed. everything is now changed, email accounts, bank accounts, you name it. secret questions, virus scans with more programs then i can poke a stick at, although i doubt it is that, because i was on a government computer before my last pw change, and they still got through

Well, congrats on getting it sorted out. Here I thought that these games were pretty safe from hackers, lol. Oh well, I guess nothing is sacred anymore.

Actually Legal action can be taken.

In Most countries there's the data protection Act(law) so if you access data illegaly you are considered a hacker and can have jail time and/or all of your computer equipment siezed

If Bryan paid(donated) any funds to the SGW site or had funds donated on his behalf then this also comes under fraud.

Accessing someone elses personal data for the puropses of "pretending to be that person" is covered under Identity Theft.

BTW if the person who perpertrated this is caught then in Europe Bryan can file a criminal suit against that person and on the basis of that sue that person(s) in the small claims court. And given the ammount of damage/UU lost/ Income lost and general work on his account thats been lost (All based on the black market prices) + general suffering caused by having his ID/Property hijacked there's a tidy ammount of money involved.

There's loads more that this is covered under..........Criminal and Finiancial Law and of course Natural Justice in the courts.

his ip was bigpond NSW. if i was a mean prick, id ring up my mate who happens to be district manager of all NSW, and Northern Aust, and have his internet permanently terminated. He would most likely be put on an internet black-listing, and would not be able to regain access to the net, whoever his isp after this. However, this is Forum's game, and i wont do that without him asking.

after what you've been through the past week, im sure no one would blame you for what ever u do to this guy. whether u took legal action, or just put a boot into his... errr... rear end

i havent been through much... its forum that had all the pieces to pick up.

anyway, its just a game, so ill probably not do it... but the option is there if this bloke decides to come back

having such people sealed off from the internet would be good... would also be good to have repeated, large-scale scammers sealed off the same way...

Just for note- as it occurred in NSW it falls under Australian Commonwealth law. What has happened to you is certainly a breach of the Communications Act ?1996?, however unless the game admin is willing to pursue on your behalf the police are unlikely to take actual action as they will want actual evidence that it has cost you real money but you may be able to get around this if you have recieved a reciept of payment from the game ever. You are best to pursue this through as a civil matter where records will be needed but the judgement is based on a balance of truth factor- just convince the judge you have lost money or equivalent and wish to recover it.

Effectively the new rule that NO resource can be traded for $$ has eliminated the element of 'material loss'. And to claim loss of reputation or psychological damages is VERY hard to prove.

As such, the case wouldn't have a point. It is doomed to fail.
The only one who COULD sue is Forum, because HIS damages are far greater due to this conflict.
