Well im sure the right places in london would be reasonable enough for drinks etc.
And oxford is where i suggested first, near london, easy to get to.

Being a term-time londoner here are my views..
1) London is easy for people to get to.
2) London is a HUGE place. It varies considerably depending on where you are. I live in West London (Brentford/Ealing to be specific), and going out there is very very different to central.
3) In central london you are looking at somewhere between £3.50/4.00 for the average drink. So yes, expensive, but then again most places in the south are.
4) The ideal location would vary depending on the type of event you want to host. Hypothetically speaking if you wanted to have a beach party then somewhere like Brighton might be a good idea.
Gotta run now, will check back later.

I know places in central london that are around £2.50 for real ales. Lager & guiness goes upto £3.00 though. Although I live in the south and places where I drink are £2.50 a pint for students and £3.00 for those who are not.
Clubs however are a different kettle of fish and are a super rip off.

I would say on the outskirts of London somewhere
Or I would suggest going to 'Reading' just because its real close to me :p
And yeah your gonna be looking at £2.50 - £3.00 for a pint

mr. shadow wrote:I would suggest the bluewater shopping centre. we can all go into the multiplex and catch 300 as well, and I know accomodation is reasonable there. Either that, or someone be designated to find a bed and breakfast willing to host an overnight meeting or even a weekend, perhaps.
Be sure not to wear a hooded top as you'll get kicked out as they're prejudiced cretins.

maybe not a southern meeting, but all u guys know that oop north is where u wanna be!! Newcastle would be convenient

its only £2 for a pint up here lol
but back on topic. not all of London is so expensive, sure if ur planning on going to soho or sumthin ur gonna have ur eyeballs ripped out for a pint, choose a few local pubs, and ur sorted!!
as for accomodation, probs best to sleep outside the city and travel inwards. ther are plenty places to stay, e.g. last time i went to london i stayed in Borehamwood, which was only 30 quid a night and a 25-30 min journey into the city, where as city centre costs double that for a cardboard box, per night!!

Before people start suggesting somewhere in the North, know 2 things, the topic title says "South" and there's already been one fairly big one in the North, I traveled from South Devon to Liverpool, that was far enough, thanks

Somewhere a bit more down this way would be welcomed...
