The distance it is from my home requires two bus journeys in a morning, getting up 6am, to return home between 5.45pm and 6.45pm depending if I work the early shift or the later one. I try to engage in an active social life outside of work, but of course, have little time to do it if I take due care to get to bed at a sensible time during the week. With only the weekends to play with, and those consisting typically of getting hammered, I find myself tired and run down by the time I come back to work on Monday. This of course, has a negative knock on effect, to by both my mental and physical well being.
So, what am I getting at here? Well, are we all destined to be simple untrained military peons for the mega conglomerates, churning out our energies to supplement the pockets of the mega rich corporate folks whilst we run ourselves into the ground? I am beginning to understand why people do 'irrational' things, and by that I mean things that are considered beyond the barriers of social normality. It's a method of expressing our shear frustration at being tied into practically being a slave to the wage. After all, what is money where it can not be spent? As a wise man once told me, 'health is wealth', not money. But no longer can people live simple lives because the corporate chains are making a mess of everything, and natural living.
We are but peons?
(Slightly depressing for a Thursday morning but yeah, meh)
