Old school music?
Some of the true greats of course...
Sinatra. Manilow. The Stylistics. Diamond. Queen. Streisand. Warwick. Turner. Houston. King Cole. John. Baccarat.
I generally prefer this generation of music and classical to the modern trash. I don't even consider most modern attempts as actual 'music'. Some of that 'music' is just god awful. Let me think.. erm... Dragonforce! Truly terrible...
Death Metal, Rap, most of R&B and club.. and a lot of heavy metal.. just do the world a favour and kill them. They're genre's for the tasteless, uncultured and talentless fans.
To paraphrase a man who used to teach music at my school. All that sounds good.. outside and several miles away.
that'd auda do it!

Post-war rubbish!
And that war I speak of is the Napoleontic March on Russia.

while i may not agree with you about the Metal genres, i have to admit, Dragonforce.... well..... to me they fall in a similar category as Slipknot: ie they have so many members of the band that are apparently skillful yet one retard in a trash can will make a better noise.
the oldest music i'd listen to would be on very rare occasions, Gustav Holst - The Planets. though to be more 'on track' i'd say Pink Floyd. probably mentioned far too much by now, but still a bit more relevant.... lol.
Dad and i used to listen to various Pink Floyd albums together while i was growing up, used to get out an old VHS of them performing live and watch that too on occasion..... *giggles* memories......
also agreed about rap etc. Solus does not want.

anthrax pretty old school?
sex pistols(though i don't listen so much)
madness XD
machine head, are close to old school, but not quite yet

@ solus, i agree about dragonforce, but slipknot are purely amazing, have a listen to stone sour to see two of the members skill if you dont like slipknot's style.

I think I've tried listening to stone sour, from memory only one of their songs I liked. same with slipknot. before I forget.
anywho, off of that tangeant I go

on the weekend they aired an episode of "dont forget the lyrics", the contestant chose the genre "classic rock" to which there was 2 options, something I've never heard of and Pink Floyd Comfortably numb. silly woman never heard of either the other band or Pink Floyd.
