Custom title things I can stomach. I'd love one but it's fine if you say "mods deserve it because they work hard for XXXX reason." It isnt going to change the game in any way.
HOWEVER I'm sure most of us are going to be up in arms about the admin team giving out freebies for being a mod. Titles are meaningless but once you start giving out crap for mod work (which should be seen as voluntarily work) things are going to go south. No one is FORCING them to do it as they can quit whenever they want. Yes, mods are chosen and such, but it doesn't disregard the fact that they can always choose to not accept the job. Also it would be very hard to force someone to continue doing the job if they decide to quit. They do the job because they want to better the community and it should stay that way. Receiving 'benefits' for taking a mod job is very shaky thing to do. Its good that at least Bad Wolf is willing to say no to those things, and I hope that most of the mods see it in the same way.
I know it sucks to not be able to get 'benefits' at the same time because I spent a lot of my time working else where on a sort of MMO and it takes a lot of time out of my day to sort out crap that comes up. Yes, the job sucks but enjoyment of seeing the game crunch on for another day should be fulfilling enough.

that is because it is a modified version of the officer title system... it would have been much harder for Forum to make those titles if he had not had something like that to work with...

I have to say I agree this is rather disappointing. The fact of the matter is there is a near on endless amount of respected, qualified, active membership to this game that could replace mods again and again and again. Not that I'm dissing what you do, you guys work hard and make the forum a good place.
BUT the people this is insulting is not the Mod Haters Its just the average member because what your doing is a slap in the face to normal members. Normal members who did not volunteer and therefor do not have a slight and albeit meaningless vocal contract but still they don't have a responsibility to be here but they are. And mods get special titles and those members who try to help out themselves without all the fancy delete buttons and the warn system they don't get anything like that.

it was Forum that decided that the mods should get some simple return for the time they have put in... NOT any of the mods... and it is Forums game, so he decided to input that bonus...

lads who cares if they have titles
if you want one then build a time machine, go back in time about 6 months or a year and work as hard as these guys do and then you can get 1
nothing you can do about it
except complain or mass which is stupid

Talk about over-reaction.
Moderating is an almost thankless task and can lead to in-game problems (especially with <modded> who threaten mods with massing for being mods, or locking threads, or banning, or posting etc etc).
I would not even care that much if they received some in-game stuff anyway as long as it's not too over the top or persistant/regular.
Personally, I think anyone who tries to mass/damage anyone because they are a mod, or support a moderator in a thread deserves to get banned from the game, as the mods are some of the highest members in the community, and threatening/attacking for giving up their time is a low low act and shows utter contempt for the community.
Imagine no mods, forums quickly descend into anarchy, with noobs spamming, people posting in the wrong place, spam bots breaking in and posting disguisting advertisements and all sorts of rubbish.

Haha. Don't expect a special title there, though.

If any of that kind of crap happens, the mods on the forums had better ask for new IDs and permanent PPT at the same time.
I appreciate the jobs the mods do for the forums and I don't have a problem with this small token gesture to show thanks for the time spent but in-game privileges will likely not be tolerated by the community, including me.
If it really was Jason who proposed some of those ridiculous ideas, my advice to the mods is to beg him not to do it.

I think the fact that the people get no say in who has become a mod is probably a large reason why the mods rarely get "thank yous".
If it was something we were all happy about, or even got to vote for I think you'd all be much more appreciated.
Just a thought.

The annual awards and the reason of the cancellation of them simple showed us, why dont ppl have a say in those things... You know how that turned out.
