the word you was looking for was "newbie" not "n00b". n00b is an insult, not a very strong insult in my book but its still an insult.
It all really depends on the context tis used in
true, but from what i gathered thats what he was implying...maybe i'm wrong

You say it is open for discussion, but will you let the 'people' vote on this matter ?
Im quite sure I could get 100 people to put there name down for this system to be removed, and for us all to go back to the old way [ IE we applied to be a mod when positions were needed and then the admin/Mod team voted on the candidates ]
This system is wrong, it doesnt work for the peoples best intrests. And is a poor excuse for a system.
Lose this system or Lose the people.

time to FORCE some democracy in the voting mod system by making a thread of a selected victim and vote them out....
simple 2 answer poll
out or in
sounds easy

Well that puts up another problem you know. Being famous with lots of friends, doesnt mean you would be a good mod.
Just remember the awards... and why they were shut down...

"certain individuals" (could be mods could not be mods) made stupid competitions for certain areas of expertise that where lopsided to heavy popular players in the game.
Do i considered myself popular yes in a way, would i want a award for it? HELL NO, just being acknowledge is good enough

Thats how myself, teal'auc, apollo, lore, rienna, etl and now diamond dust have all been "carefully selected".
I think not....
speaking for myself, I applied when there was that huge thread in general saying that even old staff had to re-apply to get on the mod team and was selected by the admins... so please, if you don't know what you're talking about, hush. I wasn't chosen because I was someone's friend, and I swore I wouldn't get it because at the time most of the admins were my enemies...
Just cause they're my friends now, doesn't mean it was always like that. I wasn't given this job because people liked me, I was given it because they thought I was capable.
Bit of a difference, eh?
Nuto vixen wrote:Zeratul wrote:so how come those you mentioned only make up 10.7% of the total mod team?
where does the other 89.3% fit in?
Agapooka is mentioned twice and sleipnir has always been here.
There was a mod call once and people applied to be mods, and people were chosen out of the applications.
That was a great idea, and many of the forum global mods were promoted after the head's quit or were demoted.
Why can't there be another application forum?
oh yes, that would have been the call where I applied. No use in having another if a year later you'll still say the mods were let in via friendships, eh?
The system we have now does work. It's not just everyone's friends being let in.... I remember a conversation a few months ago with Pookie where he said "this mod suggested this user... what do you think?" and I discussed it with him, and then he discussed it with a few other users and decided not to promote them... this time the discussions ended in a trial.. so what?
How do you know that when the trail ends there WON'T be a poll? you don't, cause the trial hasn't ended. Though, I'm not saying there will be one either... I'm just saying that it's kind of lame to complain about a system that's only half-way through it's first use. You have no idea what's planned next. So how can you complain yet?
I think ya'll are jumping the gun a bit. Perhaps you should have saved your complaining for when the trial is done... then at least you'd know how the WHOLE system works, before you say the system sucks....
JMHO,

Well Rienna what about flipping the system ?
The Mods would nomiate say 5 people for the post in quesition, But then the Forums public would then vote instead of the admin team.
That way both sides win. The Mods make sure a mad man/women isnt voted in coz there is a slim chance of an egotistical Bad guy getting into the 5, and then the public get to vote on something they clearly feel passionate about.
SO both partys win....
Can you please give that some thought Mod Team ?

Somewhere on the forum I was accused of popping out of thin air and I became a mod.
I, actually, applied to be a race mod. I think Wolf359 had set the applications up..? I was accepted, but a few months later I transfered to Suggestions/Reports.

I PM'd you explaining that if you were not going to offer any justification in your choice of words, it would be seen as a personal insult. And a rather lame and groundless one at that. You failed to edit your post and/or come back to me via PM to explain. You had sufficient time in which to respond positively, and didn't. The topic was later locked, and I politely warned you that rules are rules.
weird. Why was this user not warned then?
memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=11606His avatar and signature are offensive and an insult to all newbies.

I think that is part of his name: what he is calling himself, not others.
I'm speaking from seeing it now, and not having through extensively on the subject.

Fair enough but you have seen it now and it is still there as well as the signature.

and as spacey said, it's the members name and more what he's calling himself... case closed on that one

there is a difference between using the name on yourself, and using it as an insult meant to degrade the way another member plays the game.
