i still don't understand how decsending someone is gonna be a one on one instead of 5 or 6 on one. i would like to hear what people think about decsension being one on one vs regular massing tatics.

if massing tactics are allowed for descension, then the major alliances (which should not be on ascesnion but really are) would own everything. they could only allow their members to ascend and have bonuses. It would also allow members of a big alliance to blow some small offense out of proportion and screw over some poor sap.

if it's a one-on-one thing, then you have to be very confident in your own abilities before taking on someone in a god battle (vs. relying on allies to do most of the work for you)

The only question that REALLY matters here:

What is going to be done to prevent people (AKA alliances) from attacking people in groups to descend someone???

All of this talk of turns being valuable, and not worth spending on noobs is pointless if you can just get 30 people to spend 100 turns each to descend someone...

There needs to be some sort of control on this...

Even if it is something as simple as making it so personal attacks can only be made while both parties are at war, and adding a feature so that you can't declare peace/neutral if you have attacked that person in the last 24 hours...

descension is accomplished when one ascended being 'bests' another, down to zero life/reserve life.

a 'one on one' attack can happen anytime


ok well i just copied this from forums original post, to me that says it will be a one on one attack.

There is no way to avoid having a few people get together to tear down the defenses and such of the target.
I believe a massing with the goal of descension would turn out like this:
A few guys get together and mass the target down until there is nothing left but the personal attacks.
Then you get the person that has the personal stats needed to best the target to attack and descend them.
That is not an alliance thing was stated above though.
Anyone could do that with a couple of friends and if you are short on friends in ascension then I suggest getting them up there to help you.
One may not be able to transfer things on ascension but they can still act together as a team in friendship and if you ask anyone that has a friend in the game if they would help each other out most of the time the answer is yes even if they are not in the same alliance.

Where are we at now?

I haven't been kept up to speed on what's going on so far. But to me it starts sound like another whatever game feature. Are everyone here so hung up on protecting them self from descention making it a whatever thing, or is the point with descention going to be a blow that is taken seriously?

I've tried a few attack a bit back, found that the effect of attacking people is only to take their Dark matter units. Rather boring to my view as attack is the lowest way of getting Dark matter units, in my views...

I really hope for Descention to be a feature that HURTS people, really bad. The best way to do that in my view is for it to Effectively descend people, not just some temp thing but, strip the loser of their power, all the way down to main.

As for protecting the noobs and such, the startup PPT of 8-13 weeks, before descention is an option. Well it took me some 3-4 weeks to build a defence that can stand most people in Ascended. Not dedicated attacks, but enough to take the random blows flying around. (Attack for Dark matter units). and I did that without farming or the like, simple building account with trial and error approach.

As for the trouble of descending people, well I figure that to be as troublesom as attacking/massing someone to their knees. It's not easy to attack someone and strip them of some 50-90% of their powers. Why make it harder/easyer then that?

Baseline is still where is it going, simple whatever thing or a really hurtfull feature?
Do I even want to keep updated on this?
Is it really any diffrent then standard attacks? (Raid/simple attack, and what ever form you can do)

It's going to be hurtful no matter how it is worked. There is no way that Descension can be made "simple" or a "whatever thing".

It will be different from standard attacks (raids, naq attacks etc) in that genuine long term damage is going to be inflicted on both your Ascended account and your Main account.

Also, attacking for DMU is the lowest way of getting DMU... ?! :roll:

Not certain, and I'd like clarifications on the damage you woul;d want inflicted on the main account?

I am not in any position to say what sort of long term damage will be done to the Main account, but go back and read Forum's original post. It is pretty clear that there will be something pretty bad happening to the Main account of a Descended player no matter how the update turns out (rightfully so too). This alone is enough to ensure that Descension isn't some sort of triviality. :P

Here's an idea for those who are afraid desensions will become a tag-team affair. In order to engage in the being vs. being battle necessary to descend someone, a 'vendetta' must be declared.

A vendetta could function something like an alliance war does on main, and it would block or obstruct other beings from interloping in the vendetta while it lasts - ensuring it remains one on one.

Obviously it would need tweaking so friends couldn't declare vendettas on one another all them to protect themselves from real attempts.

But it is just an idea, I dunno if there's a better way to handle this.

If you make it so that descension is a 1v1 fight, all you will accomplish is to make alliances build one super account by letting him take all their DMU/planets, and ensure that big alliance players cannot ever be descended.

Nothing IMO.

alliances are part of every mmorpg whether scripted or not. get used to it and try not to pee any of them off :-D

or at least make sure your in a bigger alliance :P

I've proposed a hurtfull feature like Descention actually descends you (You go from LG+ to LG, and LG to non-Ascended). This sounds harsch and it prob. is, but this way it's nothing you take ligthly, if someone starts to descend you, you better react to it, or things are really going south for you.

As for Ascended accounts being descended to Non-ascended, there are options here.

1. The Non-ascended account is deleted/reset. Ouch.
2. The Non-ascended account is put in stasis untill the main account reascends, then he'll be able to re-activate his ascended account.

Ascended accounts from LG+ main accounts, goes to LG ascended account if descended, so resetting or Hibornating them should not be done. since they are still ascended beings.

This LG+ to LG gives a very good reason to ascend futher then LG, as it'll give you a second shoot. While up to and including LG gives the simple 5% bonus on main.

As for alliance massing and things like that, I really never seen the problem there, I'm not part of some big alliance, or a strong player, but I get by both on Main and as ascended. Just let people be as******, such people tend to meet even bigger ones.

P.S. I'm not a LG+ on main, and frankly I see no good reason to be one currently, maybe that'll change once I've rebuild my main account after my first ascention.

ok - after reading hte 20+ pages of arguments, and looking at the 'popular' opinions (ie majority) ..... this is what will be INITIALLY launched. it can be altered over time, as everything can, but this is what will be "beta'd" and coded....

main account and ascended status are tied.
if ascended status is fully active, ascended bonuses on main account are as they are now.
if ascended status is vacationing, ascended bonuses on main account are halved.
if ascended status is 'descended' (1month long), no ascended bonuses on main account.

if you are descended in ascension, you are put on an automatic 3week 'vacation' where you cannot access the ascended account, then a 1 week protection period. During these 4 weeks, you are considered 'descended' for the purposed of main account.

I will restate that this will affect those with more ascensions to a greater degree, as they should be better able to protect themselves. It hurts the seldom ascended less, obviously, as they are weaker in ascension and although easier to descend (theoretically) the 'penelty' is less.
For those that say it is not really a penelty since it is temporary, I hold that keeping someone down is just as penalizing as a 'one at a time' knocking down....
I believe this approach balances what has been worked hard to gain, and the desire for some 'real' effects when descending someone.

if you change race to a normal race on main, there is no penelty on the main account, but as always - you are stuck in a normal non-ascended race until you ascend again.

if you vacation on main, it does not affect your ascended account.

Descension will not be 'one on one' but it will be limited over time such that personal attacks cannot be continuous. Attacking someone -even weaker - personally, will have a cost, too ....

I will start putting the 'labels' in place on main for the vacationing, etc, but the actual effects will not be implemented until after they are tested and pre-announced.

It is also likely some attack restrictions will be lifted/removed when the final relaase of this goes live....
