Would be a good idea, but so far I have received 1 reply in 2 yrs of play doing this system. If more people used it maybe it would be noted more IDK

Re: possible scam control

I was bored and came across this thread. I've never had a cash trade and probably never will, I don't particularly agree with them but I would hate to see somebody lose $$ over a free game.

This idea is brilliant and the fact admin can make some $$ out of it aswell can't be a bad thing, reward admin for all the hard work he has put in. As stated he wouldn't have the time for it but if he put a team of admins together to do it for him I think it would be a great idea.

While I wouldnt mind seeing you do it, I dont think you should get a fee. Admin who uses the money to pay for the server, or no one. JMO.

Re: possible scam control

If thats the case every mod here should get paid.

If it is a paid position, which I actually don't have a problem with, it should be a position voted on.

That or I'll just pull rank and say its my Idea and I should get the job, or an equal % for coming up with the idea.

The last part was a joke for anyone who missed it.

Re: possible scam control

Well, the account info is sent to trustee. Trustee changes login so that there is no chance of seller changing login him/herself. Buyer informs BOTH seller and trustee that money is sent. Upon confirmation from seller, trustee releases new login info to buyer.

It will take a maximum of 48 hours for deals like this; but, you can guarantee that your money will be safe. The trustee won't even get to touch the money. The trustee will have to have an email address that will be used as temporary login. The trustee will have to be someone who has position in the forums. That means the mods. Mods have more to lose if they fail at being trustworthy.

Also, how long will the trustee hold the account information after the money has been claimed to be sent? If the buyer does not confirm the receipt of the money, what happens to the account?

You're idea will benefit a lot of people who use $$ in the game Lore. You don't even need to have admin be a part of this.

I think I might have the same idea. Make a program that is a sort of a split box for both players A and B. If both sides of the box are "filled" (with account info, $$$, etc), the trade goes through. The program would cross-reference the account info via the SQL database, verifying that the account info is accurate.

(If I'm completely wrong then just ignore me lol)

I'd love to see it, if it can be done, but interfacing with PP generally causes issues that would first have to be overcome.

Re: possible scam control

I could try and write the program as a Java applet (it would be very basic, with a bare-bones user interface), since all that would be needed was a few logic statements and some SQL cross-referencing. But you're right, it would be difficult to incorporate PayPal into it. I'll see what I can come up with.

Re: possible scam control

Ok i have done ALOT of $$ trading over the past 9 or so months. Now, all of my deals have been UU/naq and not account buying/selling, but here is my input.

EDIT - and just for the record, here is what the 'extra' cost will be for sending funds to a 'middle' person then on to the reciever...
-If you send $100, the reciever will get $96.80 (3.2% fee)
-If you send $100 to a middle person first, the reciever will get $93.70 (6.3% fee)
So in simple terms: for every $100, the 'middleman' system will give you $3.10 less profit (if working in usd)

For account selling, yes this could work. It's a one off trade and if you want to pay the extra money to guarantee that you wont be scammed thats fine.

The problem is with people like me who buy and sell alot frequently...it may simply not be worth it.

Say in 1 month i buy 500m UU , this will probably be done in 3-6 transactions with 3-6 different people. In this same month, after selling my UU for naq (500m x 670b/m = 335t naq), I sell that naq for $3.5usd per T, and once again 3-6 buyers.

How much have i lost in fees under the method you are all talking about?

4x trades of 125m UU at $1.3usd per M = 4 lots of $163usd (10% of $163 = $16.3usd lost per trade)

4x trades of 84t naq at $3.5usd per T = 4 lots of $294usd (10% of $294 = $29.4usd lost per trade).

So i have spent $650usd, i have made $1173usd = $523usd profit

then lets put in how much i have spent securing it...$183usd.

Ok thats not too bad, because if i was to be scammed in just a single one of those trades i would lose about that much or even more. But would i use this service? No, probably not, because i can almost always convince the person to send the money/resources before i do. If you made it 5% i would maybe consider it.

But lets look at this a different way. Instead of charging 10% of each transaction, why not give the ability to 'buy 1 months worth of service for X amount of money'?

example:

1 off trade under $100 = $2usd
1 off trade over $100 = $3usd
Buy 2 trades of any amount = $4
etc etc

Hmm i suppose the question has already been asked to admin as to whether its possible to simply add in a 4th trade option in the marketplace (Trade $X for Xnaq/Xuu/Xturns) which would involve sgw being intergrated with paypal)...?

Anyways im gonna stop writing random stuff, but if any of these plans go ahead I am willing to help out (presuming you all think i'm trustworthy? :P)
