Seriously?

If you're going to tell me that metal bands have no talent, but you listen to nsync, then you obviously know nothing about music.

hes got a point, but to be honest different strokes for different folks, i know when i pull up to a light and all u can hear is my 2 12in alpines hit from the drum solo from joey jordison (slipknot) or when the dragonforce guitar is being shredded youll notice.

i listen to metal cuse it actually means something to me, ya i listen to daughtry and Sixx A.m. aswell as others but to call a artist trash is a little stepping over the line.

ill use rap i cant stand it i hate it when i am at a light and some 15 year old has there bass bumping i cant help but spread a little second hand metal and usually in my dodge 1500 i have a bigger motter and i know how to use it worst comes to worst me just smoke ya off the line.

i know what it takes to make a band work and work effectively my uncles a drummer ive seen what its like and to call or insult someone like that its a bit out of line. i dislike rap but i make the best of it, not gonna lie sometimes the beats are great and id strip the lyrics for the beats but thats why i love paul van dyke and oakenfold and daft punk i need electro i got that but i didnt diss jmx cuse he likes it. a little thing called respect, even if he could smoosh me like a bug ingame ill show him respect in here hes human like me.

anyways suzuk u like dragonforce ? i love listening to herman li shred his strings, on the video through the fire u can actually see him cut a string from playing like he does.

if u watch the video its like somewhere in the 3 min mark area, as there doing the solo, u see it actually lashing back at him :-\ watch that video to dam many times :| lol.

You're right, different strokes for different folks, but when someone's argument is; 'metal sucks, I like Nsync'... I'm definitely going to respond.

There's more to metal than Slayer guys. :P

Yes, I've listened to Dragonforce. Not really my thing, but those guys are very talented. I saw them live at Ozzfest a couple years ago. They were spot on.

Take a look at what I said-I didn't say metal sucked, and I didn't say I liked all of nsync's music. I said that there are a few good artists in any genre, but most of them suck. To be honest I can't think of any artist even, where I like all of their songs (not referring to quality here, but to taste). I think what you're confusing here is "talent" with "what you like". There are plenty of extremely talented musicians, that I don't really enjoy listening to (jazz comes to mind). When you criticize nsync is that because they are "bad" or is it because you dont like them? Too many people accuse anything they don't like of being "bad" (happens with music, politics, religion, etc.). My saying that I can stand most metal, and that most aren't very talented stands. It also stands for any other genres. The issue is that most people only listen to a tiny number of artists in each genre, and its only the top ones that get record deals, and of those only the really best ever become really famous. Take a look at the numbers, most artists suck, they're not good enough to get even small record deals. And even of the ones who get record deals most of them are ones you'll never hear of. Listen sometime to all the people (thousands and thousands of them) that don't make it-and you'll see what I mean. And with certain genre's its easier to suck. For example, rock, pop, and hip hop generally speaking require very little talent. A brass quintet, or a acapella quartet take a much higher level of musical talent to deal with. Now, not saying that there aren't good and bad artists in all of the above-but my point stands.

As for not knowing much about music, I think you'd find me quite knowledgeable... I had 6 years of piano lessons, along with music theory classes. I've played the trumpet for almost 10 years now-including several years in different bands, and some time as first trumpet. I've done chorale music for 15 years, and with several groups. I only had a couple months of guitar lessons... I've also run sound systems for hundreds of different musical events. So please, don't resort to unfounded personal attacks whenever you feel that your taste in music is being threatened.

And, yes, Nsync is bad. I'm not saying that because I don't like them. It's because they truly are terrible. All of their music sounds like it was recorded and synthesized through an old Casio keyboard. Their vocals parts are extremely pitch corrected. Plus, they can't/don't sing live. I rest my case.

metal isnt all screaming, ever listen to slipknot, listen to vermillion pt1 and pt2. then come and tell me they scream. if u cant understand something simple like that or hear and feel the vibe of the music its not for you.

i dont really want to fight but you know what i will i listen to a varity of music i listen to rap i listen to dnb i listen to techno i love trance and i love metal.

i dont want to hear how underground bands dont get records cuse the big ones got them alot of big bands take little bands to help them, im not much for underground. i like shredding musical notes i love hearing the drums being beaten hard becuase at the end the night if they dont perform then they dont make a liveing.

nsync dont perform live why ? because they lip sync becuase they cant afford it why?

you get the point yet? i dont care what u like really, i enjoy all music. be it metal or rap ill listen to it.

just knock of the bs, u dont like metal great more power to you swell i hope nsync trips your trigger. personlly when i want to listen to them the day i die and roll in my grave i will till then i shall stay hard and rock on

\m/

lol nah i love metal im actually calmed by it usually with out i get angry its bad when metal quits means im thinking and thats when the hate mail flows! lol

haven't you ever heard bad metal? or do you just stick to the well known groups?

While there are some songs of theirs that I don't like, I think you are confusing their "hits" for all of their music... songs like "God have must have spent a little more time on you", "Sailing", "Everything I own", "This I promise you", etc. sound nothing like what you're describing. As for the rest of your going ons about them I don't know/don't care. I don't follow any artists career. All I care about is whether I enjoy the individual song.

Excellent piece... only problem is listening to it I get so moved (as in my hands start conducting and my feet start tapping) that I didn't get any work done while it played :(

as for the hate filled messages, well, whether you enjoy the music or not-there are studies that show that different types of music have different effects on hormone levels, blood pressure, heart rate, etc. quite good studies really, you guys should take the time to look them up. (and no-I won't spoil them for you now)

I still would have to claim Canon in D major (by Pachelbel) to be my favorite though... and here it is by one of my favorite artists http://youtube.com/watch?v=jOfDuJT7eew

aside::
will all the people who feel threatened when I say that most artists aren't that good please stop thinking I'm criticizing you or your taste in music? To be honest I couldn't care less what you listen to... Music, after all is an art, and as I once described in a college paper, art has to do with the effect on the persons(s) creating it, and on anyone who partakes (looks at, listens to, tastes, etc). My paper showed how love making could be classified as art....
