Well, for me the validity of the bible is sort of weakened. I mean, it's written by man. And man can lie and distort the meaning of the words to fit their own needs. What ever maybe have been the original words could have been changed through the centuries? How many editions are out there? How many times has the Bible been edited?

The Bible was written by God through man. Yes it has changed over the centuries. The main problems came about when it was translated to English. There are well over a hundred different versions.

The message of the Bible today is still accurate as accurate as the day it was written. There have been many modifications, amendments and changes but that's all a part of translation. Then there's the changes from Middle English to Early Modern English to Modern English. Different denominations use different versions. (eg. NKJV or NIV)

If you want to know more about the accuracy of the modern Bible against the original texts there is a lot of information out there you just have to find it.

The catholic Church has addressed this issue by making it... I'm not sure what the term would be.. canon? Idk but the Church and the current Pope have stated that the belief in life beyond earth does not go against the teachings of the bible.

dude the answer the religious fanatics will give is that the bible is entirely perfect and correct. and the editing and changes would apparently be god working through the thousands of people who made the changes. they have a blind and pointless answer for everything lol but they are wrong.

if you really want to see the more creative and groundless stuff just mention the biblical age of the earth. thats like their hallucinogenic drug. they think its around 10,000 years old. they is reality impaired.

thats not surprising. the christian church is as big as it is now because it abandoned many beliefs and adapted to suit a mass audience. will have to look into that it should be funny hearing the pope talking about aliens. perhaps he will whip out his AK-47 and save the world with will smith when the time comes

actually i think the church has banned the clergy from whipping things out. maybe he will take the AK-47 out when at least 2 other independant adults are present in accordance with their rules

I personally disagree with mainstream religion, faith is a personal connection with God, gods, or whatever you happened to believe in, you shouldn't have to be forced to believe fables and altered mythology to have a personal covenant with God.

On the not of he validity of the Bible, the fact that there are lists of books, included and not included based on region, demographics, and the differences int eh stories proves that the bible is not a perfect manuscript. While it may be the product of divine intervention, and it may tell true events, Such as the Life of Christ, he existed Roman records prove it. When divine liturgy fails follow tax reports... Anyways the majority of the bible is meant to teach you a lessen not describe true events. The Great Flood is an impossible event, the entire earth could never be completely flooded. That and the air would have been so thin that everyone on the Ark would have been asphyxiated, and any survivors would have dwindled and died as a species do to rampant inbreeding...
