The easy way to make a cool background is to duplicate the render, place it on a layer below the render which you will leave intact, and smudge it outwards. Then put a similar colour beneath the smudge. More smudges will make it look even better, but don't go overboard (no more than 6 I would say).

Another effect i like to use is to copy the render, perhaps twice and move them off center just a bit, then merge the two copies and perform a motion or other blur filter on that layer. It can result in similar effects to what Murkur is describing but in some instances you may want a more linear look, which a motion blur can achieve.

The only reason as to why you still have the whites in your pics is because you saved them as jpeg files.

Saving the images as .gif files instead of .jpg files can not only let you have transparent backgrounds, but you can also make animations.

A example of what can happen if files are saved as .gif files (used your avatar and sig to do this):

Your avatar

Your sig

A tad bit rough here and there, but it was just an example. I'm sure you can patch them both up now. ;)

Using Fireworks MX 2004, I always export in PNG32, good quality and transparency is kept :)

As for erasing the white, you could manually go in with the eraser or fiddle around with the magic wand tool (In fireworks, don't know what it's called in photoshop) until you get a good setting ^_^

Another tip: Make sure you spell things correctly :-D

Don't make sig so big, Find better quailty renders. Maybe have all the render showing if you do sig like that. And the symbol I think doesn't work with the sig. Overall it's a decent effort. and you need to add more colour to it. Try duplicatin the render all of the sig, then merge them all, and do some Filter > Blur > Motion, Guassian blur it's upto you. Set to either overlay or Softlight. Just and easy way to add colour, plent of other ways as well.

Yes that one is better. But I don't think white bit is needed aroudn the sig though. And Don't save in .gif for transparent. it makes it looks choppy. if your going for transparent you .png, .gif for animations.
