i thought about making a similar topic a couple months back but didn't think i would get a single worth while reply so again, kudos

Your question is flawed, you're assuming that I'd allow them the knowledge of my omnipotence.

1. I wish that a multimillionaire or billionaire who is a citizen of and will die in the United States or United Kingdom within the next month or two summon his lawyers, has them fill out the proper documents and wills me an unquestionably legal and unassailably proper inheritance of at least [how many millions of dollars are wanted] after all taxes and any legal fees.

(The provision about the United States or United Kingdom is to ensure that a perfectly legal financial transaction isn’t slowed interminably by dramatically different inheritance laws or cultural or linguistic difficulties.)

2. I wish for total, lasting and conscious control over every aspect of my physical being, including but not limited to strength and speed, general health and resistance to all disease and every aspect of how I look and the aging process, and that these powers be manifested by thought or speech but persist until I again consciously and wakefully think or say for the attributes to change.

(This wish still has at least one unavoidable ironic trap, which is that the wisher can remain eternally young, but those the wisher loves will inevitably age and die. Still, this is a very flexible wish, and the emotionally mature user may well use it to age and die gracefully and without pain. Also ...)

There is a wish remaining, held for some future emergency.

well after having a bit of time to think about it (although that doesnt mean this will be perfect) I think that the wishes I'd make are something along the lines of the following

First just one assumption and that is that you can wish for anything, even if it only exists in fiction etc.

1 ) the power to bestow/remove immortality up on anyone (including myself)

2 ) to reach a mental evolutionary peak. (i suppose something akin the mental development of the ancients of sg1 or the Q from ST)

3 ) to have a ship in orbit at my command similar to that of say the enterprise-e or one of the Freespace2 capital ships (such as the Colossus) with a full compliment of equipment

Once I had all that I'd find a few worthy folks to take with me and leave this godforsaken rock to blow itself to hell.

no matter what you allow, every wish you make will be flawed, there for you would make a mistake which would back fire, if you wish for perfection that too would backfire

You seem confused, as it really doesn't apply to what I said. Which was me subtly saying that I would not allow the average person to know about my omnipotence. As an omnipotent being it'd be well within my power to "blind" everyone to my omnipotence. Being omnipotent, everything would have a reset button, so if I actually did screw up anything, I could simply undo it.


Omnipotence is the perfect wish, the only down side is arguably the boredom that would eventually set in. But if it actually got that bad, I could just off myself.

Hmmm is tough

1. To do a universe tore

( I wonder what it looks like when your in space)

2. To know Every thing there is to know, like could answere any question

3. To have a 1000 more wishes.... Does this apply

as for the mental peak, one must be weary of what the human mind at this time can take, that much might make you insane

well, asside from a mutiny in space, I don't see too much room for backfire there, unless those on earth attack you xD

well thats always a risk with immortality for anyone, but why would someone wish to have it removed?? And of course its something anyone with that kind wish would have to deal with so its not so much of a backfire more a consideration.

As for the mental powers well we cant know, with say 90% brain activity why would you get bored? You could do/think/speculate on anything as far as we can tell.

And the mutiny, how exactly do you kill someone who is immortal again? Thats kind of the point of the immortality and why would you risk annoying the only person who could remove any immortality you'd had granted on you?

Meh I'll still stick with those kind of wishes, I'd probably word the wishes slightly differently so I can be careful to limit such backfire effects but I'd still stick with those.

Hmm.. My 3 wishes..

1. First off, I would wish for the ability to have an infinite amount of wishes.. if something went horribly wrong I could wish for a sort of "reset" as Jack said earlier.

2. Lets see.. I would wish for immortality until I was content with letting myself go peacefully.

3. I would greatly lower the birthrate of humanity, until the point where we could be healthily and near-equally sustained by Earth.

4. I would wish off the "lower class" (The poor, starving etc.), as in I would bring them up to "middle class" status.

I believe in there being equality between 'good' and 'evil' but I think there is WAY too much evil in the world, and I would more or less, have it equal. Like SuperSaiyan said, without one, you would not appreciate the other for what it is, but only accept it as the "norm". Without some hate, there cannot be love, without anger, there cannot be happiness, etc. These are my beliefs, and I won't ridicule you for not agreeing with them.. I'll wait and see what people think before I continue thinking up ways of "fixing" life as we know it

@ #4 eliminating lower class makes middle class the new lower class, and such a new upper higher class would be born, since the dawn on man we have grouped ourselves, nothing will ever change that

@ #3 what kinda of wish would that be? "I wish for humans to keep it in their pants"

@ #2 what of those around you? would you want to live knowing everyone you love will die forever?

@ #1 again, with that you run the huge risk of making a big mistake

Lmao, I meant as in I would lower the chance of getting pregnant by say.. 90%
After population evened out, I would raise the percentage until it was at a healthy level

Not sure how I would go about this, I don't think I would be able to live with myself knowing I could have prolonged their life, so I would eventually most likely grant the same'ish amount of life to my friends as I did myself.

That's where the reset comes in, but I would NEED to remember to wish the retaining of my memory and knowledge of what happened before the "reset" to avoid the same thing happening again.. and again and again in an ever looping cycle for eternity

A hypochondriac exchanges his soul for immortality and indestructibility.

During a house call, Bedeker's doctor explains that he is in perfect health and tries to tell him that the aches and pains he's experiencing are all in his mind. Bedeker accuses the doctor of being a quack and complains about his wife's attempts to assist him. The doctor privately assures Ethel Bedeker that her husband is fine, but does prescribe some vitamins for her to deal with the stress her husband causes.

Bedeker is miffed when Ethel is given a prescription and shoos her out of the room, all the while complaining about how short a lifetime is. He wonders aloud why people have to die. A voice agrees with him and he is quickly confronted by a portly man with a jovial face who introduces himself as Mr. Cadwallader. He freely admits to having many names, but points out that words are just words. Engaging in a conversation regarding semantics, Cadwallader offers Bedeker immortality or, as he calls it, extra free time. In return, Bedeker will give him a small piece of his make-up - his soul. Bedeker astutely recognizes that this is the devil.

He drives a hard bargain with him anyway. He wants indestructibility along with no changes in his appearance. Cadwallader also offers an escape clause in the contract. If Bedeker should ever grow tired of living, he may request that his life end at that time and his demise will be provided quickly and with not a lot of suffering. Bedeker agrees.

After Cadwallader leaves, he tests his new-found indestructibility by putting his hands on a steaming-hot radiator. Noting that his hands aren't burned at all, he tosses out his pills and pronounces himself the New Walter Bedeker.

He handles his new lease on life unusually. On a subway platform, he waits until the train is nearing, then jumps onto the tracks. The train runs over him with many witnesses watching in horror, but they are shocked to find the man himself perfectly fine.

Bedeker quickly makes a good living purposely jumping into danger and receiving cash settlements from the companies involved. Ethel, not understanding why her husband is treating these near-death experiences in such a blase manner, tells him he should be grateful when he complains about how bored he is. Knowing he won't die makes putting his life in danger completely unexciting.

He explains to her that he made a deal that gives him immortality, but she thinks he's lost his mind. Pouring a concoction of ammonia, iodine and other toxic liquids into a glass, he downs it in front of her and experiences no side effects. He declares that he's going to jump off of the roof and she follows, protesting.

Trying to prevent him from jumping, however, she accidentally falls off herself. Bedeker handles her death with barely a reaction, but realizes he may be able to solve his boredom problem. He returns to their apartment, calls the police and confesses to murdering his wife.

In jail, his lawyer is perplexed at why his client doesn't seem to want to help his case at all. He cautions Bedeker that a guilty verdict could result in the death penalty. Bedeker, eager to try the electric chair, assures his lawyer that a huge electric bill will be the only effect should they try to execute him.

Nevertheless, Bedeker receives the shock of his life when, after being found guilty, the judge sentences him to life in prison without parole.

As he waits in the jail cell to be transferred to the penitentiary, he ponders what a lifetime in prison will do to him. The guard tries to reassure him that a lifetime for a man his age is not likely to be very long anyway.

When alone, he is joined by Cadwallader who asks if he would like the escape clause invoked. Bedeker agrees and Cadwallader tells him he looks like a man having a heart attack. Bedeker instantly drops to the floor and dies.

@ #4 once more - there will still be the seperation of classes, which means it will still be looked upon as poor by the upper classes, they might not be hungry, but they will not be treated differently

@ #3 once more - after that healthy level what prevents it from changing again? you'd need to increase the death rate for it to be balanced

@ #2 once more - who is to say they would want to live forever? maybe they want a natural life, you'd still have to live with their dying

@ #1 once more - even with remembering it, you'd still end up repeating everything, what happens if your 5k years down the road and make a mistake "reset" back to square one...

MSN for the win

most of the responses (mine included, and maybe especially) have been kind of obvious BUT, i've been thinking about this for a week now and have come up with my perfect 3 wishes

1, i wish that my brain to work at 100% capacity and have TOTAL control of my mind.
2, i wish that the word "impossible" to have no meaning or substance in my mind.
3, 3rd wish would become redundant if the 2 above were to become reality, so i would leave my 3rd wish as kind of an insurance in case of an unforeseen situation
