Untrained Mercinaries serve absolutely no purpose.
Well they can make your army look bigger on your stats page, but I've never found that important.
i disagree.
i can prove you are wrong but that would go against the rules about not saying anything about ascension.

I triple dog dare you ^_^

they don't function like "lifers" mercs.
and the debate doesn't continue. They serve a purpose but it's forbidden to talk about what it really is.
but trust me, they serve a neat purpose.

don't expect too much. it's nothing exciting. It's just that you got information other don't have.

Then you would be in violation of rule 16 and i would have to delete.
To many deletions and i'd have to PM Psi or one of the other Super-mods.
If they get involved... you don't want them involved

Keep it to yourself and use the knowledge to your own benifit
(Note that personal gain comes 'after' keeping it to yourself.)

trust me. (can't be bothered to login) he is ascended and has therefore a right to know (not right, but has had the possibility of finding it out the legitimate way, multiple times.)

tis true, untrained mercs serve one and only one actual purpose besides making your army look bigger, but its not really worth it so just ignore them unless you want to horde them and give an officer tonnes to sell

i disagree, but let's stop talking about this since it's debatable if the purpose is worth the effort.
whatever
1 question: why did this get unstickied? (maybe some new updates, hint hint??)

Probably because it is more of a joke thread than a comprehensive FAQ.

suppose they could be used as a way ofprotecting naq. if you don't mind losing almost half.
Putting any naq that won't fit into the bank into untrained mercs then sell them when you need the money.
Better than losing all to an enemy and makes you less of an appealing target due to low amount of naq that you appear to have and the fact that some opponents are put off by a large army for only a small gain.
Dunno how much sense that makes lol
