Random massing- give your opinion on what you think this is and why you think it is what you say it is.

Random massing is picking a number on the attack screen, search it and mass it no matter what stat/alliance etc etc

BUT, random massing to me is not really done in the game. Random means what is says, random, no data to be used to make a decision on.

Players mass others becasue of a big defence (data), or agents out (data).

Players mass because of hits against there alliance, officer etc (data)

Players use the random word when they have no direct interactions with those who have massed you. huh, I was radomly massed- NO, it was a data driven decision.

Why?, well, pick a number and mass it, and it could be 0 defence, or 20 tril defence.

There is always a reason for massing a player (maybe not a good one) but who defines what a good reason is. The only ones who can do this are the players themselves, which morally put rules into the game and boundaries.
Why do players get upset if someone gets scammed. There are no definitive rules, but moral rules.

I personally have never done a random mass, it has always been for a reason, and most likely the weakest reason is of race of why. But I defend this as to me this makes the game more interesting, as I am not just massing a number, I am massing an ancient, Tauri etc and making my race the most powerful in the universe.

Random is not something that is completley without any non random elements.

For a thing to be random, just one variable has to be such.

If a guy sets his parrameters in a way (say 50% army trained) and masses a person that just happens to fit that criteria first, that is technically still a random act.

Its infact the other way around. Most if not all critera have to be given for it not to be random. Some exclude eachother and some exclude randomness while others dont.

Say if you pick me for some reason (why u not liek me *sob*), my army size plays no role whatsoever and can be random - since there is only one me.
If you pick your target based on army, there are still 1000s of players that fit that hypothetical criteria thus an element of randomness remains.

Nobody random masses, theirs always a reason, some decision on thier part to mass a certain person.
To be truley random you would have to roll a dice. A big 75,000 sided dice (or number generator ;p) and get a random number a rank number and mass that target. And being that atleast 70,000 of those players are inactive with 0 defence most of the time you will be massing at nothing at all... good luck with that :), you will also as well as finding randomly enemies to mass your allies as well. And if you were to choose to not mass someone you randomly selected well then whoever you next mass was massed because you didnt want to mass your friend.

As for massing for boredom, Massing is a very popular ingame function its all a lot of people play the game for, SGW and all other online games like it are their for 2 things, 1. to make the creator money, 2. to cure boredom. If people only play for massing then obviously they will mass to solve boredom.

Rolling a dice is not a full random act. You are not taking into consideration on how the dice are thrown. Classical mechanics 101

true random massing is getting a random number generator, setting it between say rank 100 to rank 1000, and massing the individual on the rank shown

K so if I decide to say...Today ALL accounts with army sizes of 250mil to 300mil I will mass (conquer), excluding allies and 0 defense accounts...therefore not random?

Here you go.

Put 1 in "generate",

AND

"random integers between" 1 and 71130 (currently)--------Unique values in drop down box and then ------GO

... quickly edits programme to remove own id

DIsclaimer: I am not responsible for you massing your own account

Hahaha, lol rene, now we are going to start getting into chaos theory and the like.
Nothing is truly random because the events that happened beforehand dictate what will happen next :D.
Applies to dice and random number generators as well as you picking a random number your self.
Therefore no random massing...
though this is more applicable to "General intelligent discussions" than general :D

When so called big defs are mentioned, what size are we talking here?

I was massed recently for no obvious reason and tbh I put it down to me not having the greatest account and being a easy target. My MS is average at best and my def was about 800b.

Do I think it was a random massing? I dont know (I forgot to ask lol). But to put it bluntly, WHO CARES. Its a game and I expect to lose resources from time to time. There will always be people that play the game more/better than others.

The real question should be: Do you mass them back?
