CCT in stores and houses for personal use are a VERY different matter.
we are talking about cameras on the streets for policing of the people.
and for the record, street cameras (not speed cameras) dont help to prevent crime as has already been stated by a few in this and other discussions.

it is because not many people new of these supposed cameras. i had never heard of them prior to reading this topic and it might just be because of the region i live in in america.
people are born greedy. they want want want. they don't want to share. so if you think about it they will always be looking out for numero uno.
i know that said cameras don't prevent crime. but how do you know they don't. think about it. if the crime doesn't happen how do you know if it was going to or not in the first place.

It is highly obvious that public space CCTV cameras do not help solve crime because in 100% of cases brought before the courts in the London area (a city with one of the highest (if not the highest) concentrations of cameras) only 1% of cases were supported by CCTV footage due to issues regarding resolution (so identification was impossible as it could have been anyone) and of those cases the CCTV evidence was only submitted as 'supporting evidence' & was not entered into the courts as primary evidence.

I'm sorry HS, exactly what are you trying to say by just quoting previous posts and adding nothing new? Or do you have a pebkac error?

i was merely posting to say said quote was not questioned.
how do we know that the presence of said cameras don't stop SOME people from committing certain crimes.

the Govts own statistics on crime and the effectiveness of cameras to be a deterrent and means for prosecution prove as much.
