the game will continue to decline and people will continue to get fed up and leave so long as empires exist as they exert their will upon others with no regards to the consequences.
i have tried to encourage many people in the game and they have all ended up quiting because they got massed by an empire or big alliance who then wouldn't leave them alone because basically they "looked at them funny"
while this tyranical attitude remains new players will rarely join let alone stay

Lame excuse and bad reasoning. You cant use the retaliation of traitor acts as a platform to take a shot at empires bla bla bla bla. Whats the real reason? Bad updates..or bad timing on updates that creates an unbalancing of the game, and not enough GW people recruiting for the game. Be real.

my post is perfectly relevant and certainly reflects the views of new people who come into the game but you are more used to chasing people out of it than helping small guys
bad updates is certainly a factor yes but i was pointing out another side of things.

One of reasons is that stargate linking gave interest into this game for players, due to MGM complaints the linking was half removed and now stargate franchise is on hiatus.
Also, the lack of improvement of graphics (Photonic guy proposed interesting graphic things, but apparently he quit game few months ago), in main but especially (imo) ascended login page doesn't help to keep newbies around. It's not anymore the same age of computers now. It's Full HD era so basic graphics on text based game doesn't really attract anymore.
