Then it's their mistake for ascending. They knew the risks of ascending, they shouldn't have ascended if they didn't want the risks.

I do completely agree that there should be some protection for the newly ascended from the people that have been playing for a very long time. but it can't really be a rank modifier since before you can attack the god you have to remove the physical defenses first which of course will drop their rank considerably.
One option of course is to police it ourselves. take the most powerful ascended players and as a group make it known that anyone de-ascending someone for absolutely no reason will probably be de-ascended themselves. I'm not putting any details out there it is just an idea.
My second point is that when descension is released I don't believe it will be an easy process by any means. I mean to hurt somone not only do you have to have a god strike that beats their defense but you have to be able to handle the repulsion and overcome their constitution. At only level 18 i'm only taking 82% of the damage against me. That means someone has to have over 4,144 strike to do one point of damage to me. So in order for someone to kill me from full normal HP in one turn with full 2,000 AT they would require a strike of 4,275, and let me remind everyone I have put absolutely no special work into my god defenses.
I'm not saying this is impossible or even improbably for the most powerful players but simply for 95% of the players this is a very difficult expectation. Just like in SGW the most powerful can do anything to the less powerful.
My final point. Ascension is a VERY high risk game and forum has never said otherwise. if you want to ascend and don't want to work on your accocunt you do have the option of vacation mode. but with not being able to bank, and with the ability for people to hurt every single stat you have this is not a child's play server. You run big risks for big rewards. Personally I'm working hard so that when someone does start whipping me silly in regular I do have the option of taking them to the table in ascension, and I'm looking forward to the feeling of descending the guy that makes it necessary for me to descend his account.

Oh, very nice idea. I assume that the council would be informal, no? If so we could make it a council of the strongest alliance leaders and a few independents with no sort of strong alliance ties. That or they can be elected alliance officals of some sort. Either way I really like it.

since i just recently ascended in june for my 1st & 2nd times, deascension is something im not really looking forward to, but i know it wille ventually happen. Right now im doing everything i can to build my stats in ascension. i hope it is enough by the time deascension is put in to effect.

The problem with creating a council like that would be that it would function just like the UN and NATO do right now. Basically eating out of the hand of the strongest alliance. IE, let's say that descension is out, and this council idea is created. I'm in Omega(as you can see from my sig). I decide I'm bored one day and descend a n00b. The council asks me why, I say I was bored. So the council says I need to be descended. Well since Omega and DD are the two strongest powers in ascension, and they are both allied, who's that leave to try and descend me? Sure someone from a small alliance MIGHT be able to descend me, but then he will be descended himself, mostlikely multiple times.
*Goes on mumbling something about Bush, Iraq, and the UN.*

That is absolutely true hen. This would depend on members of the councel being willing to put aside their alliance membership to do the right thing to make this a fair and fun experience.
Of course the council would not need to get involved in every descension. Fights between reasonably equal players would not need to be intervened in. but when a group bullied a weaker player or a very powerful player took down someone that could not possibly put up a defense against them, and done with no provocation or reason this would be in incident for the council to get involved in.
Ultimatily punishing bullies I have found while reading these forums transends alliance memberships. and I would hope that alliances like omega, CFE, and DD have enough respect for the positions they hold as the most powerful alliances in sgw to not condone but to punish bully behavior, even when it does come from within their own alliances.

people keep saying that everyone "knew the risks" but actually, nobody knew any risks... some people had inside information, and others knew stuff because people had previously ascended in their alliance, but yet, nobody "knew the risks" because descension was never in place.
I personally can't stand ascension. It is a waste of my time... to force people to play it is rediculous.

God, you can always put yourself on vacation mode. YOu aren't forced to play even after you ascend.

It was stated in the ascension screen that ascending is a risk. If you read the screen about ascnesion when you were ascending you'd have known there was a risk.

I remember the realease of ascension too I believe the exact words were close to, "a new HIGH RISK server where you can actually remove someone entirely."

The only idea I don't like is the one where you lose so much stuff.. I'd say you would should lose all the bonuses, weapons, spy lvls/assasin lvls, UP and techs, but keep your units..
I know I would be very pissed if I lost everything on my main except those units that could be untrained and that my miners that werent lifers would dissappear.. Things have finally started to really kick off for me, so if something like that happenend to me I would be really pissed.. And not for losing the stats and stuff, but losing the units you spent so much time and work to get.
Just my opinion..
