Well, it seemed a bit tangent to me, from the original topic at least.
It seems every time a thread gets started by a moderator that's fed up with things, it inevitably shifts to members discussing their thoughts on fixing up the administration. Just like what happens here.
I suppose it makes a fine discussion, but the only ones that can actually decide when it's time to do something are the moderators and admins, and I'm neither.

while you are neither an admin nor a mod, it does not prevent you from giving suggestions for how you think the forum can be improved...

Well anyway... what about having an election for the mods ? and say 5-10 people go into the vote who want the job, then everyone on the forum votes for who they want, and the winning two get put towards a 'Admin' pannel and they can pick the winner ?
What are peoples views on that idea ?

Sounds good.
You say what the public wants the public gets? Put yourself in for the vote and then we will see..

I personaly think that the best mods are not the most popular players actualy. And if u let the public decide the mods, they will decide the ones that dont lock, move, delete their things. But this isnt the best a mod can do is it?
For example there are some mods who are not well known in the community, but they infact very good mods... how many votes would they get? See the point? Its not a who has more friends contest....
i have some opinions on democracy too, but i dont want to make a too long post. If u intrested pm me or add me on msn and we can discuss tho:)

But it is evident that the choices made by the Admin pannel [ NOT the public ] have been bad ones.
Buck is popular, Psi is popular, Nuto is popular, Flavar is popular.
But anyway I would love to hear your 'opionions on democracy', I will talk to you tomoz about this on MSN mate.
And 'just4laughs' I do not know who you are.... sorry. I will PM you.

flavar is popular, yet also is said to be one of the bad choices.
at least according to someone who has been rather vocal about their disappointments in the admining via msn.

More than eva hey.... hmmm I wonder who this could be ?
Welcome back mate,
and Psi I think Flavar is a good Mod BUT he couldnt get on the internet enought for the last few months so in my eyes he should have made way for a new tempory mod.

while some parts of the public may try to choose those that wouldnt mod, not all of the public want them... and those kinds of people wouldnt be approved by the admins...
a sort of election might be the best idea...
the way to do it could be:
people first submit an application in a thread like last time.
then those applications are made into a topic each, in a temporary forum section.
then the public votes over each of those, till they find who they think should become mods.
then the admins look over those chosen by public, and picks the ones that become mods.

I can't comment on other mods and what their doing...although I have wondered out loud to an admin over suggestions for some things. Personally, I made an open call for advice in the spam temple in my first two day asking for advice, as I was sure I would have the most trouble there. [AK]Syreck responded to the call, and I have heeded the advice as best I could. I still have the pm that I refer to from time to time. To that I am forever grateful.
I've tried to keep an open door policy with problems with my modding, etc. There have been problems in a few cases, but at the same time in doing basic tasks I've recieved hate mail, threats of massing, etc. and I've only had a couple of people send me their concerns about things. If there was ever a problem, I would hope that it could be resolved. People make mistakes.
I don't intend this to be a post that I defend myself, but rather lead into:
Bad Wolf wrote:But it is evident that the choices made by the Admin pannel [ NOT the public ] have been bad ones.
I was put in by said adimn panel. If there is general outcry with what I've done, then say so. I'll step down(going back to what was said above, again, only a few people have come to me with concerns). No votes are needed. Heavens knows that I could contribute more time to school work and a social life...

Spacey is doing a dandy job, even though it's annoying to have the old recruitment thread dragged up at least he's nice enough to delete all of the useless posts in it upon request
