I have examined the claims of cheating/rigging in the Awards and this is my conclusion:
In all of the voting threads I have found a total of 7 anonymous posts (this doesn't necessarilly mean they have voted).
There are also a few (but not many (less than 10)) accounts with a very low post count that have posted (and possibly voted). Only 1 of these accounts with a low post count is linked via IP to another forum account.
Now, I would like to say this - just because someone has a low post count it does not mean that their vote is invalid. Neither is it wrong to register on the forum just so that you can vote for somebody in a poll (a LOT of people did the exact same thing last year).
I do take a number of the points ( S T I's in particular ) - but at the end of the day, all awards are popularity contests - and that's everything from awards in this forum through to government elections. Why did Labour win the UK elections under Tony Blair and push out the Tories? Was it his policies? No. Was it because of poor Tory policies? No. It was because he became popular to a significant proportion of the UK population who stay at home all day, watching TV and reading tabloid newspapers, and they thought 'Oh, he's a nice man.'
I have also seen talk along the lines of that certain people should not be winning because they are not as good as other people elsewhere. Well, it may be the case taht they are not as good as others - but the fact they are/were winning and a number of people did not like it is NOT a good enough reason to cancel the existing polls and start new ones.
From what I have seen - there is NO proof of any wrong-doing and I do not believe that anyone can say, beyond reasonable doubt, that any wrong-doing has occurred.
