It is an ethical point of debate whether or not opinions are subject to censure as well.. basically, opinions are no opinions unless they are shared with people who disagree. If they are not made public in any way, they are convictions, not opinions. If they are made public in a group of people who agree, it is doctrine.
Unreasonable thoughts or not, they can be voiced on any public stage. If Zerathull is under the false impression that SGW is as much a public stage as any other forum, he has every reason to share his opinion through that channel.

Basically, I guess, you are concluding things that lack ANY basis in reality. I believe racism does the same, only adding the sin of generalisation to their list of crimes? Your words are, essentially, nothing more than single-subject-racism. It is, so to speak.. hypocritical.

Mr. Ladiesman.. no matter how hated Zerathull has become for voicing his opinions (of course blown out of proportion, as is customary), there is no ground in your incessantly illogical overreacting.

Seriously.. the threads that cropped up lately have been naught but wrought out of the purest negativity. I do have to say, I admire the ability some people display over and over again to turn complete ignorance into the leading motive of posts. Did I say admire? I meant something less favourable.

Amusing how Zera's remarks were never racist (simply for lack of dealing with a race, but a people), but ever so ethnically biased.
That kind of perceptions is actually subject of much studying in anthropological circles.. no stuff to be tossed around by children.

When you say it's ok, think if someone insulted your own country or your gender, ethny etc...Would u react the same or like most of use did there? Ask yourself this, and then comeback to say what you would do

When I read this thread, I see discrimination against people accused of discrimination. Sweet irony. That word is tossed around too much. Everyone whines about how bad it is while they do it themselves. As Auriel ponted out, this wasn't racism, but another type of bias. Essentially, what we see here is people getting upset about what they hate about themselves when they see it in others.

Let's face it, everyone is biased. Some biases are more extreme than others, but only in their degree. Hatred and extreme hatred are both disgusting things, and it would be hypocritical for one to hate extreme hatred when he himself hates. This place was never about policing people's thoughts and it shouldn't be now. That said, it is a mod's job to censor inappropriate remarks, but we oughtn't force our ways of thinking upon others, no matter how wrong we believe them to be. I believe that racism is wrong, but apart from general consensus, who am I to say that it is?

Should I start to call out TLE for calling themselves Romans? Romans, after all, were into slavery! Romans were racist and cruel! Romans called every non-Roman a barbarian (apparently an allusion to the fact that foreign languages sounded like sheep... bah-bah-rians). But that was a long time ago, it's ok, they can be glorified today. Where do we draw the line?

Well in that case the best you can do is make sure the line does (not) get evenly drawn.
I expect you to leap to the defense of the next Al-Qaeda alliance that gets torn apart. Afteral there`s not even a general consensus BL`s a bad guy or a terrorist, heck many see him as a freedom fighter. Points of view. Who is any1 here to say he is not in that case?

Personally I think some are taking things a bit far as far as not forgiving ever goes... provided he learned such train of thought is wrong (be it rasist or ethnic bias or whatever you choose to clasify it) ppl could maybe let bygones be bygones.
But waving it away as in you "whine to much" and "we all think it" is fundamentally wrong. There`s a debate about word filters going on because of the "impressional youth" lurking around.

I allway laugh my ass of to things like this. For instance I go by the name "Private FirstClass F*ckup" in certain FPS games... and ppl get offended. Hello, were trading headshots and blood is spewing everywhere... and you take offense not at that but instead at a clearly satyrical name? Its a family server? Were killing eachother and my nick is the issue for your family? You`re one sad induvidual.

He made a very stupid, poorly thought out and uncool statement that is the bottom line. I don't think that anyone is trying to change anyones mind or statement- what is done is done, and it may have been a 'poor' joke gone wrong or a statement not meant to offend but did, the issue here is that this is not the place to make such remarks- period.

A good rule of thumb is to usually keep away from Politics, Sex and Race/Religion in general conversation unless you 100% know people will not be offended or are in a forum that allows such ideas to be raised. If you keep away from these points you usually keep away from really offensive remarks.
