Wow. I skimmed most of the posts and have gotten the general idea I think.
My first thoughts:
Wolf359's argument is very valid. Do you realize the coding time needed for a feature like this? The benefits for something like this would need to be very easily stated to validate the time and effort involved.
As for making things easier. I'd have to disagree. I've been playing just over a month and the game is (if anything too) easy. Why make it easier and to a certain degree negate the hard work that long time players have put in?
As for increasing market activity why is that a good thing? and the market here on the forum already seems fairly active.
This could possibly be made into a valid feature idea one day, but there are several other issues that require attention first (imo). The number one reason this shouldn't go in is because of the time involved with creating a proper working auction house does not equate to the very limited benefits it may or may not provide. Take it or leave it. Just my opinion.

Re: Ingame planet Auction House
Really, I think the only thing that should be done along these lines is add Planet to the list of things you can Trade and Give. the forums can handle the rest.
Of course, unless you spy, you can't guarantee the validity of the stats of the planet you are trading for. Makes things interesting. But does make it easier to give stuff away to friends/allies rather than force them to set neutral and attack the planet.

Re: Ingame planet Auction House
i like the auction house idea. regardless of what other games did or didnt do, regardless of their success or lack thereof, having an auction house is not a bad idea.
we have a free market and having an auction house would continue the system of a free market. you bid as much as you want on what you want, no different than everyone making a ton of threads selling this that or the other. the auction house wouldnt require anyone to use the forums to sell their goods, this would result IMO of more trading and THAT IMO is a benefit to the game.
now the auction house is a double edged sword as you could make more for your resources OR, less. you stand the risk of not making a profit. again, thats part of a free market and i support this idea 100%.
i think being able to auction planets would be good. it'd be easier for someone to find a buyer for their planet.
i also think people hawking their goods should be able to set a minimum/reserve price (for a fee!) or start the bidding above 1 naq (again for a fee) that way they stand a better chance of making a sale.
this entire idea might do away with most of the threads from buyers and sellers, most, but not all.
there should also be a feature to block certain IDs from your auctions for whatever reason you deem fit. also abusers scammers, ETC could be added to a universal ban list to prevent them from using the auction house PERIOD.

Re: Ingame planet Auction House
As i read Apocalypse's post, I thought of a way to prevent scamming.
When you put the planet up for bids, the planet is put in a special place that shows all stats to the bidder. Also, the person who puts the planet up loses temporarly a planet slot so that person doesn't get another planet to put in place of the planet up for bid.

sorry to break it to you but some of dont believe scamming has anything to do with playing the game at all. its nice you do but others dont and even go so far as to mass and sit on scammers.
i would ask why you support scamming so much but that would open up a massive can of worms i dont really care to go into. but do wonder why someone who plays the game is so ok with scamming and views it as part of the game and sees no reason to try and clamp down on it.

The one thing I can't stand above all else, is scamming Scamming is immoral and just plain wrong, it should be stamped out. The only way I can see people supporting scams is if they are the ones doing the scamming.
I'm sorry that you disagree with this Wolf, but this is how it is with scamming. And with you supporting it, like I said before. With you supporting scamming, it makes me wonder if you're a scammer. Are you?

Re: Ingame planet Auction House
Scamming (not involving real money of course) is part of the game - it is not a question of whether it is immoral or not - it is simply a legitimate strategy. Unless of course you think that in war it is an illegal tactic to try and trick your enemy into something? In that case, how is scamming any more illegal than tricking two opposing forces into a conflict?
As for if I'm a scammer? No - definately not - never saw the need, but I do recognise it as a legitimate tactic and cannot understand all those that whine about it being immoral, without actually being able to state why!
On the flip side - neither have I been scammed - not once, not ever - in over 3 years of being here. And do you know why? Because I'm not naive enough to trust players I don't know on the promise that they will send me resources if I do something - and, I always make sure I check my brokers instead of just accepting them because I think I know what it is.
It's like I've always said - if a stranger walks up to you in the streer and promises to do your shopping if you give him $100 dollars, would you hand over the money?
Bottom line - scamming is 100% avoidable - right now - if people only took the time to check, and weren't so damn stupid as to trust people they don't know. You can't always, nor should you, protect people from their own laziness and/or stupidity - again, this is a war game for god's sake - and in a war, laziness and stupidity have grave consequences!
All trying to eradictae resource scamming in game can possible achieve (even if it were possible to eradicate it - which it isn't) would be to force it outside of the game and increase $$ scamming - which nobody wants.

I have to agree with this statement, and I have personally fought very hard to get severe punishments handed down to scammers. The bottom line is,,, most people scammed either did something stupid, or were lazy.
