If the majority of the complaints are about bias seems to reason that a decision to warn or mod should have to be seconded by an available mod as a standard of procedure.

that would increase the amount of work involved by exactly twice as much...
the point of ombudsmen and mods which read pm's is that if people have problems with the warning etc they can contact people... then it will get looked into... if we automatically 2nd guess every mods judgement we will just be better off making a poll saying "should I give x a warning for this" "yes" "no" "I didnt undestand the question"
and 4 days later they will get the warning and go why did it take you so long you stupid mods now STHU and GTHO of my inbox...

Do we even have 21 mods?
Although I do recall voting 'No' 18 times with all my forum multi's.

most likely not 21 active mods (that voted as well...)
we know of several mod accounts that have not voted...

I believe that perhaps some change may be needed. I probably wouldn't agree with who needs to be changed though.
<sarcasm> I don't really consider myself a mod but rather a forum user because I mainly stick to just Chaos when thinking in Mod mode and well I'm a god there and the people seem to like me as they all worship my infinite knowledge down there. So discussing my not being a Chaos mod anymore would be irrelavant as I'm sure the worshipers would revolt if I left.</sarcasm>
There are some fairly decent points made in this thread...although I believe your mod team is a bit small Semper, you have to account for people needing 1-2 day breaks or vacation times. Plus the fact that things can get quickly out of hand so you'd always want at least 1-3 mods on at nearly any given time.
I believe that having a very loud, honest, and unbiased Ombudsman (or even two) would really do a great deal of good though. Honestly, having a GOOD ombudsman would probably solve a LOT of the problems that several people currently have. So those are my thoughts. Be happy you have been blessed to receive them as I try to avoid stuff like this.

Awwh...thanks. I'm guessing Semper thinks we're doing okay as well since he didn't want to replace any of us. Of course I'm not exactly sure how active Semper is down in Chaos land as I haven't seen him much. But honestly the folks in Chaos land play much nicer with one another than folks up here do. Of course our community is much much smaller, though more of you coming down and playing in Chaos land would always be fun. You could become more worshipers of my infinite wisdom.

Thade it is imposible to get an unbiased ombudsman as they will always have friends on the forum or alliances perhaps which will make them slightly biased.
but yes once a few ombudesmen are up and running it should be a bit smoother.

True...but getting one that's pretty damn close shouldn't be too hard...and as I said having two may not be a bad idea as it would allow a choice in who people went to with their complaints if they felt one was more representative of them than the other.

Nim: you're a global mod..

Not like people will believe you're not biased.. just in a different way.

Now I on the other hand.. I'm a racemod (recently reaffirmed that racemod is no real mod..

).. not affiliated with any large alliance (oh, yes.. Nim's alliance joins the fight through the back door..

) or at least, pretty neutral..

Ah well.. Go Bill! Bringing the dramatic effect into great representation.

((You would make a good lawyer in jury trials, me likey.))
Go Ombudsman-committee!! 2 people.. rocking your world.

I vote only in "valid" elections, I fail to see one there, so no vote by me!
