Points why Tauri are better than Asgard.

A) As. civilisation is crumbling.

B) The weapons are too big for the small statured Asgard.

C) Tauri sounds cooler than Asgard.


D) As. weapons usually don't work well either.. *cough* replicators *cough*

Sorry to be the barer of bad news... but in the last episode of SG1, The Race formally known as "Asgards", all decided to commit suicide of a galactic scope.

So, no more Asgards... They gave us their techs because they themselves were too useless to save their own skins. Ok, so they were smart, but not smart enough to save themselves. What good is that to anyone?

The Ancients left Earth, and therefore, all the techs they left behind become ours. Possession is 9/10ths of the law. You don't leave awesome, world saving devices around unless you want whoever will come after you to find it and use it. I have no doubt that any ancient wouldn't have protested its use anyway.

Preservation is the key to life. Preservation IS life. We all need a legacy. We have all learned from others, it doesn't mean have become the others, or the others are more to thank for us living the way we do.

Humans have the ability to take what we are given/left with and use it to our planets advantage. We would have been toast the first time "Nubi" rolled around if we hadn't acted with initiate. Something that other races fail to do most of the time.

Bottom Line. Humans are alive. Earth is still a solid object. Earth is protected. You are not.

Ancients were trying to save themselves by "masking the galaxy".

Jaffa Rebellion would not exist at all if it weren't for TAURI convincing Teal'c to join them in a fight against evil. If it weren't for TAURI, Teal'c would still be First Prime of Poppy. Poppy of course would still be terrorising you're neighbourhood and making "sex slaves" of your women.

who cares who's better?

the tauri. could they have survived without asgard help? quite possibly. if the asgard were not there, they would have acquired goa'uld tech and more ancient tech. could they have failed without the asgard? also quite possible. the fact that they didn't fail made the asgard decide to make them the protectors of the galaxy.

did the asgard contribute to tauri survival? most definitely. the planet protection treaty with the goau'ld is the best example we can come up with. why did they commit suicide? well, they were dismayed at the way their civilization was stagnating. with no end in sight and a deterioration in their cloned bodies, they decided to end their civilization and gave their tech to the tauri. the asgard felt that the tauri could take over as protectors of the galaxy. should the asgard be hated or ridiculed because of this? definitely not.

were the goau'ld destined to rule? yes. with their ability to take over and control a host body, the goau'ld are one of the best examples of evolution. although, parasites are most often disliked. their treatment of humanity and their megalomanina make them unstable and disliked.

replicators. they assimilate all tech and metal that they can touch. if it weren't for asgard tauri cooperation, the replicators would have conquered the galaxy a long time ago.

the ancients. most of them died fighting the wraith. some died while trying to ascend and some turned ori. of all the races, the ancients have managed to accomplish the ultimate in evolution. ascension. does leaving the physical world exclude the ancients from being called great. of course not. the only problem with them right now is that they choose not interfere in any cause.

so as you can see, each race has it's good points and bad points. who care's whose stick is bigger? as the saying goes, pride cometh before a fall.
