Get rid of ME rank, 2ATs/turn, bring back planets defs/fleets to what they were before MS update, and get rid off ATs in game market!
Then, we can hope for a second life for sgw!

And for GOD SAKE, NO "everything killable" in any server or else expect kiss the game goodbye in a matter of a single year!

Yaa I was talking about ascended.
But ascended is the perfect little simulation of main, thanks to its hightened growth rate. It goes through a games "lifecycle" much faster. So I know I`ve been around for just about 3 years now, forgive me (lol) but I do seem to remember and recognise 2 distinct ascended game lifecycles running their course. First one was the original "everyting destroyable" cycle when eventually oligopols formed and soon relaised that, much as in RL, competition only weakens them all with no gain but net loss. Instead they squeezed out the smaller ones and sat there growing exponentionally fat. So noone really played ascended, even those who "played" it. Twas the player politics that ruined it, not failed mechanics.
Hence the update that made it what it is today, "cant really harm anyone" ascended. Wich again isnt played much because "it`s meaningless" but in reality it wasn`t much more meaningfull in the first place either. Players again opt to pass on it. The same problems as n main, just highlighted and multiplied thanx to the obscene growthrate. The only "mechanical" problem with ascended that ever existed was the fact it theoretically allowed 400mil CERs that could actually be achieved in practice. Not much else. And thats not fixable anymore, save reset.
Main faces the exact same problems as ascended does/did, growing stale as a community and too large growth/size differences. You cant do much about the first one, tis the rule of life, things get old and people move on, but not before really making it miserable for a while. The second one you can either ignore (ascended of old), compensate by making size meaningless (ascended of now) or cap it and get itsown "its now boring" problems (main of now).
You cant expect a 60 year old woman having the same vigor spirit fire and passion of a 20 year old one. Its nature. SGW is past its prime, both ingame circumstances&mechanics wise and community wise, thats an objective fact. You want the good old days back, get admin to reset it. Those few that stay and mostly those that come anew will remake those golden times, not this community.
So learn to love the automn of SGWs life or jump ship allready.

I dont think the so called 'server war' is to blame, many welcomed it 6 months ago and called for it to happen for a year before that. Everyone not in the war was glad to see the 'big guys' lose so much initially and to see their massive resource production drop so the rest of us could catch up.
The only problem I have with it now is that we cant fight 'server war' alliances individually without getting dragged into it and the fact it cant be won is a symptom of the problems, not the cause of them.
Brdavs point about the age of the players is valid, new players are always the most active, us oldies get complacent and lazy, and like I said before with the TVs shows now canceled less new players are drawn in from the shrinking fanbase.

there's another game that's even fresher and gives people a big challenge without being so darn complicated on first glance

The biggest problem with ascended back then wasn't that everything was destroyable. but the problem was that the income units were raidable. meaning the big group sucked on everyone else making the big group stronger and keeping the weaklings weak.
If it had simply been changed from raiding to destroying a good 60% of the problem with the ascended server would have been solved

Only problem I would consider about ascended is that whether you ascend with minima or with a Mightymidget like account, that will not change much to your ascended account, causing lack of interest in ascending again the old way, or also going beyond LG+2.
