Cry Noooo? :P

As always, positive and negative elements to this. It's a bugfix, so it's good.. but it is also something mentioned in the past as an unintended feature.. oh well.. live and learn, I say.

And I can say that, because I have no planets. :-D
Indeed, from the words of Jason himself to me, then the week later on admin meetings to explain why he changed it, he didn't fix it before because maths were quite complex, and found out how to fix them later.
I find that to be a rather silly reason, actually. :? He could just say it was an oversight that had to be corrected. If he had had the intention of fixing it earlier, but didn't know how, he could just say that. Not say "oh yes, that..it's an unadvertised feature". What is an unadvertised feature, anyway.

If people exploit a "bug" which is later deemed a "feature" by the game administrator... Doesn't that mean they didn't really exploit, but use a un-detailed feature?

Something you sneak into a game, without telling anyone. Like saying that you must kill zombies with headshots, but shooting them in the foot is an instant kill, but not telling the players? Probably poor example, i get told often my examples suck :(

I know...that's weird.

I'm curious why didn't Jason tell me it was an 'unadvertised feature' when I asked him about planets "fix or not?". :?

Well, the human race like to do one thing above all others...

Pass the buck ;)

Wasn't my fault, it was the CODE!

That is actually a pretty Hillaryous example, Vok. Can I call you Vok? :) Anyway.
I like the explanation.

Exactly, Jason has known about this for a long time, a year+ and has chosen to let it just be. Yes, he claims to of not known how to fix it, but there were/are other methods that he could of done to make it work out if he really wanted to.
Ah. But he's the boss. If he says 1 and 1 makes 5 in this game.. it does. :P Whether it makes sense is another thing entirely.
And as Vok.. uh, I'm dropping that. As Sarevok said.. blaming stuff on other stuff is the easiest thing to do. :|

I don't mind Juliette. I'm used to it being shortened.

Not only is it the easiest, it can sometimes exempt you from being at fault :-D

Seeing how you are "The Taker of Worlds" I would say you are in favour? Your prizes will be much more worth your effort.. as the average planet will be built up higher. :P

i was tempted to vote yes, but then after a little thought i voted no on the grounds that from what i can tell the main problem can be countered by increasing the effectiveness of defense planets compared to strike planets so if a player wishes they can build the same in defense as others seem to have already done in strike.

this way it doesn't annoy those that have already put in the hard work to build their strike planets and give those that want to the chance so they can do the same with their defense planets.

:D smug mode for posting what i believe to be the best solution :P

Voted yes. Don't believe I'll have to explain my reasons for it.

I think admin is also ok to balance costs to build def planet compared to strike planet to make both equal.
The fix is likely one of the few ways possible to partially solve the issue of lack of uses for uu (gives a valid reason to train supers again), which almost always end as miners currently, instead of being trained as super soldiers more frequently.
Other way would be miners being killable but that could be abused too easily (especially if it was in ME, people would kill inactive miners to raise their me etc...)

so...

it`s already pretty late here and I just got the link to this thread so I`ll try to write a quicky on this one...

1. I totally agree with everything what renegadze has said in his first 3 or 4 posts that I read
I`m not sure what changes exactly will be made to the game but from what I read, most probably nothing good

bigger cap between planet defenses a fleet power?
unmassable planets???

certainly great news for the majority of the players :-s

Man, if I was a millionaire, I would invest so much cash into the game that I would ruin the game for you, just to show you how people with cash can ruin games....
or to make it even better, I would buy the whole game from Jason and delete right away, that would teach especially the cash spenders a lesson

I stand behind what I said in general....planets were a terrible idea in the first place and enforcing the untouchable planets that they are now isn`t going to get you anywhere....

just like in RL, the big fishes consume the little ones....I will say it how I see it

Jason is making cash from the current "investors"(cash spenders) who put a lot of cash into making their acounts a profitable gold mines from which they will later sell their resources for cash....

basically Jason won`t make any major updates that would make the cash spenders sence a "disturbance in the force" and the cash spenders are fine with that because they think that once their gold mine acounts are finished, they will profit from the game too....
I wonder who will buy any of that since everyone is leaving, the only thing standing between the departure of the player is the suitable price which he would want for his acount so he won`t leave the game with empty hands...

what concerns me, well i started from scratch, playing to see how far can I get and what can I make out of my acount even during this hard times, as soon the only players to remain in this game will be the cash spenders, I will be leaving too ;)

None of them are ready to loose their precious planets even if you offered them naq worth all the cash they invested....simply put:
" it would disrupt their financial plans"

it`s pretty obvious with all the cash threads in the market ;)

Those changes you refer to despite being mentionned here, are listed in the other thread by Nemeinljivi and I personally don't support unmassable planets. This one isn't about this fleet update.

I voted no, I dont think it right to make it so hours of gametime, and perhaps $$ invested be thrown away. That would be a grand way to lose more players.

My guess is Jason might consider a selling of planet stats addition like he did with the defenses in an attempt to rectify things a bit. But no matter how unpopular an update may be if he wants it the update is being made 99% of the time.
