Like most I have never seen the Mod section but from a users point of view thats how things look.
If anyone has the time to create a new alternative SGW forum I for one would go there, although human nature being what it is Im sure that would go the same way and need replacing after a couple of years too lol
As for game admin not getting involved, since the forum link is on the game site and he makes game update announcements here instead of ingame, essentially he recommends and endorses this forum, so he should make sure this forum is worthy.
I agree, not that I think the Admin isn't doing an alright job, and I think I could do any better... yeah right lol, but I dont' think Admin should control everything, yes this is a forum and they "run" it... but thats not fair either, Users pick nothing anymore and have no voice and I do think that is unfair, I don't neccissarily think it is "this" admin's teams fault or if they even have/had anything to do with it... but I do think Users deserve more say, maybe voting for mods, not just Ombudsman which really has no power anyways he is just a muppet in the Admins game too... Jason is not here, he does not know the users well enough to know, and to be honest this anti mod thing has been done a million times, I don't htink mod team is bad ANYMORE but I do agree that not even a year ago it was garbage and people had ALOT of problems thats why no one is hear, not now... it's to late damage has been done unless something changes the forums will keep going down and we will lose the game, but meh what do I know... but I'd bet RL cash on it, that if IF IF IF the users arne't started to be allowed to impact this forum more, it will die

who wants to take the bet?
I do not agree with users being able to vote Moderators, because then you have the same popularity factor deciding who becomes a Moderator, as opposed to being based on merit.
Users can have an impact on the Mod Team though, they need to simply go to the correct
sub-section, and suggest improvements the Moderators should make to how they operate. Vague blanket statements (which I'm not saying you made RoKeT, but those that people in general make) do not help anyone.

for the corrupt part, dont' let all mods be voted, I was talking to someone dont' know if they want to be in this so i'll keep them out lol but...
Emp. woudln't it make sense to let us vote the mods in, we have universal mods to watch them, they are not voted, they are picked by the Admin team... to watch over mods' make sure that they are not "Corrupt" or Biased...
Also year or less ago, I wrote in that section complaining, it was laughed at, maybe because i don't type the best or i'm hard to understand but I did say it was going to get worse, and the forums have slowed 100 times in the last year, more so then i've even seen them slow, that is what I worry about, what happens when these forums die... I'll be bored as hell lol

Well if you have an idea where, say, 1 or 2 Mods are voted in by the users, but the rest are picked by the Admins, then that might be an idea that has merit. I would suggest you thinking about it more then bringing it to the Admins/Staff in the sub-section I linked for consideration.

No, I don't. No one has really tried in a while. There are very few posts in the Mod Feedback section. There are lots of posts in lots of other places which complain about the Mods, but have no evidence, or no suggestion for improvement. That's not trying to improve the forum.

I agree with E.M.P, it would be a popularity contest. I would also like to see elections for moderators, but I have to agree with what he said, it wouldn't turn out in practice as how it would be theorized.

What I see here is two sides posting their arguments to back their side (how could forums/staff/moderating be improved?), which has nothing special in itself..

Voting by the users on this forum will never work due to popularity, as I have said. This goes for voting in anything on a forum in general. The idea RoKeT put forth has merit, as EMP has said, but even then - would those users want to be voted for? They would have to step up, just as in the Ombudsman section of the forum, and then be voted upon as wasting time going "I nominate so and so" only to have him reply "I don't want to" is a waste of time for everyone involved.
As for the 'truth that stares directly in front of you', I'm not holding my breathe. The reply I could make to that would get me fired as a Moderator for abuse though.

What an incredibly dull thread.
Basically the same old "OMG MODS R BIASED BRING DOWN THE HOUSE LETS MAEK REVOLUTION" kind of nonsense which worked oh! so very well in the past. This fire will fizzle out as it has before, the status quo will be maintained to the (..undecided..) detriment or benefit of us all.

If the current mod team was really that corrupt, harsh and biased, believe me, by experience of this forum since February 2005 I have, every thread related to this subject would be locked for already few days, and any attempt to resurrect the discussion would be answered and silenced by a warning.

Which man would that be? Jason? The Admins? The abstract concept of 'Power'? *grin* (Did you notice my subtlety regarding the status quo?

Shame.)
