At the same time, i'll add a point (after reading the second page only) I know for a fact that the $$ spending has drive many players from the game.

Hi, i'm one example. I can let you guess two other examples that are almost always linked to myself and I am sure there are many more. For those who don't spend there is no way to compete and maintain a healthy life away from SGW, something which IS more important. Everything you do is just easily demolished and overcome by the guy with the credit card. There is no competition and no possible way to gain an advantage, furthermore it makes wars almost completely unwinnable. There is just no joy in it at all.

I said it six-seven years ago and i'll say it again. $$ Spending will has killed the game.

The great thing about this game is we all have our own goals, aspirations and opinions. This is re-itterated by having read through this very interesting topic; covering everything from anti-TAF (anti-large groups/empires) smack talk; anti-alliance PPTs/repairs; merits of modern vs historical fighting and so much more. Finally we end up in the usual topic of $$ spending.

Raven talks about the game having become boring, but that is only in your own mind. Ultimately it is the variation in the ideology we all hold that keeps this interesting. Interact with others in order to achieve your goals. If all you do is login, bank, mass, then you might as well be playing a game with bots rather than other human players.

Some of us spend money, some of us do not. Some of us are members of larger families, others prefer to play by themselves and their own rules. All approaches have their own merits, and their own downsides. But it's the variety of approaches and characters that keeps it a challenge.

Just in response to the "unlimited resources for all" allegation - I still do my utmost to protect my account because it takes time and effort to rebuild. I am grateful to my friends and family in TAF who help look out for my account during wartimes, as I do theirs when I am around and they are not.

Final thought: If the game is boring to you, change your approach.

Still having fun.

You and I would fight, your mothership bigger than mine, on occasion me being able to ac through a defense while fighting. I'd often be bait for Qacol and you'd often be bait for Tekki and a two-person grudge match could turn into ten or more people waging war on different levels of the same battlefield. For those that put in the time during that server war, it was a blast. Always something to kill, at least for me haha.

That's the only way we could fight. We were the few who did not use cash, so we had to have some advantage or somebody covering us to allow us to mass freely and force the hand of the larger players.

I was enjoying myself, but it was really boring when nobody built anything until Robe or Qacol were off PPT.

The moment they came off, you would see 3K+ ranked people immediately jump to around 200 -> 1,000. Very amusing. :smt043
