Its a good idea and I voted yes if admin can add an entirely new and useless realm then they should be able to do something helpful as well. Ok that was a little mean but still

I think that it should be possible to either set as many 2nds as you want or (and more desireably) to give permissions out on a person, by person basis. Allowing new people into the alliance, removing them, alliance-wide messaging etc.. (Each permission can be given out individually to greater improve flexibility) This would mainly benefit those alliances that have High Councils or more than 2 people that should have admin powers.
I was also thinking about setting different ranks that the alliance could give out that would either go in place of your title (Supreme Commander, Fleet Commander, General, etc..) or in addition to it.
This would further develop what the alliance can actually do ingame as far as administration.
Edit: Grammatical corrections.
improves alliance function and replaces the useless "first prime" feature
"two birds with but one stone" as Teal'c would say

Indeed.
It would allow alliances to be more, well, alliance-like, in their management, messaging, and structure.
Does that make sense?

Maybe they should add among main buttons like training, command center, technology, etc. also "alliance" button where members of the certain alliance could read what their alliance leader (or 2nd in command) wrote like: relations, alliance tasks, important personel in the alliance, some important links and so on... I believe that this could be used as greater bond between the members and their leaders as many are forum inactive.

sounds like a solid idea! if it hasnt been said can a alaince button on the side bar be implemented, it would make them more interactive.
