you can't 'own' stolen property. if its stolen, its stolen. it goes back to the owner. If I buy a stolen car... I'm not entitled to restitution, especially because generally the person who stole the car is either : wanted and not found or imprisoned. Not like the owner has to buy his car back from you either.

as for JUAN's uu... didn't he get them by buying ppl's MTs and thats why we can now only get miners from the ingame market? I never actually heard the full story.

If I m not mistaken you can gain the title of ovnership based on possession on personal property, if you qualify for it (good faith, enough time ecetera..) the first part ensures thoug that a theif cant gain that title as he can not be in good faith.

Funny you should mention cars thoug, i m not 100% sure, but they might be excluded from "possession" on those grounds like real property is based on the fact that there is a registery of those stuf, where the title is beeing tracked.

regarding part 2 if there is a contract, you have a way of getting your money back, when and if you get it is another thing, but there is a way!

Good faith depends on the ones judging the "goodness" of that faith.
Since there's a lot of people either too scared or too naive to not accuse certain people, these people can continue to claim "good faith" based on the "respect" they have from this "silenced" or "subdued" part of the community they are in.
If I were a Nazi in WW2, and I stole someone's paintings, and hid them in a cave in, oh.. say Slovenia, and I would serve my time after the Neurenberg Trials, come out of jail, go to Slovenia, pick up my paintings and go live in a penthouse in Buenos Aires.. tell me, who will contest the ownership of the paintings? Paintings considered "lost" cannot be reclaimed by "rightful" owners, as "ownership" demands the existence of the goods in question. That's why no one can own a service.. etcetera... yada yada yada. You know how this works, as well as I do.

I think we have misunderstood eachother on several points but (asuming i know what you mean) heres as it goes.
I was pointing out to mystake that he cant draw strait lines from RL to ingame as things are a bit different in the first place. So the "law related" crap was in no way apliable to the ingame related stuf or at least wasnt ment to be. It was simply to point out he cant say buyn a stolen car and a cheated account are one and the same thing

And no i dont actualy "own" a law degree yet, in my 3rd year only

As for the paintings case i m not sure i folow you totaly but there generaly is a difference between lost and stolen Its probably also a matter of legislation in each individual country to sort out the details althoug they tend to do it mostly the same way, wonder why

I guess it boiles down to how long was your vacation after the Neurenberg Trials, and what kind of evidence the person of "stolen goods" has to proof ownership also his interest in doing so ect..
Thats actualy one of the main reasons possession was made as an institute that the law takes into an account by the ancient romans
As you might as well know its actualy alot easyer to proove the title of ownership based on possession than the actual ovnership, in things that are not evidneted in the registerys.
Not knowing the war and all post war legislature, i m quite sure there are certain rules about spoils of war

Rome, and roman law isnt dead.. its far from it, most of the continental legislature has its basis in Roman law, there are actualy parts civil law that are basicly the same as in Codex Iusitnianus. And the "quotes" are vastly used as "legal" standards (Ne bis in idem, in dubio pro reo, ect.. )

@ Blahh... in the most Western countries the golden rule of reclaiming property is what Auriel tried to explain... If it's stolen the owner can reclaim it (in the Netherlands there's a window of 10 years if I recall my lessons OK when the current owner can prove he was 'goodtrusting', if he knew it was stolen, then there's no limit). However, that is only for physical things. Immaterial things (like in this game) are, like you point out, not catchable for law, since it's that 'untracable' for the law and such obscure, no police enforcement would ever start with taking it into account, LOL.

@ Eth... feel sorry for you, but untill admin comes here and explains why, I can only say you could have known it could happen, since you bought an account straight off an cheater (who, I believe, already was known as a cheater at that time).
