buck wrote:Yeah the show got cancelled, which was ashame, it was alot of fun, The good thing about serenity (the film) was that it didnt abandon the series alltogether, although you can just watch the film without haveing seen firefly, but its so much more gratifying to watch with the series, little inside jokes and so on. Theres actually talk of a second film... Alot like Jericho, which was anouther fine series, its fan base is exceptionally vocal and harass studio's alot. IDK how the hell buffy ran for 5 or 6 series (which was pants!), and firefly only ran for 14 episodes...It beggers belief.

This!!!!!!!!!!

How the **Filtered** was this show ever cancelled? Was there an official reason as to why? This show has the SG1 flare to it. God damn FOX for **Filtered** over another good show.

Is there any chance it will be restarted?! :P

Firefly's original run was nearly ten years ago, I do not believe I need say more than that.

Very simple, good shows are not always profitable shows, and most people have terrible taste in TV, just look at the popularity of Karaoke shows like UK/US got Talent, BS Factor etc, not only do they have insane viewing figures but people dont download them, they get premium rate phone votes, and go on to sell cover versions of songs afterwards, tis all about the MONEY :(

I cannot wait for the day (or even hope for the day) when low budget shows will be allowed to function without worrying too much about a damned profit.

They need to do a 'pay per episode" program, where they release a new episode weekly on sites like iTunes where you can pay to download it. And for the cheap bastards out there, they can use Huulu and commercials to broadcast for free.

It will more or less come down to that, and it already is except that NetFlix is doing it by a simple subscription.

we most likely wouldnt mind commercials if it would mean series showing easily for us at times of our choosing and that they'd survive that way...

all that business of "exclusive rights" to show it is what truly fuels the downloading sites like pirate bay. When an audience of above average internet skills has the choice between waiting a year (or more) to see a series at a time not of their choosing or to download it to see it without long wait and at a time of their choosing, most of them will choose to download.

Which unfortunate describes the audience of scifi shows. :(

its odd that the audience of sci-fi shows tend to be technologically skilled, isnt it?
