yes, and as I said to Tekki, and now to you... the not keeping cool was the whole point.
Just, lol.. watch scrubs and see how often Dr Cox loses his temper of over reacts.
I think a moral here is perhaps I am just too good at role playing.

I think and assistant oms would help keep things moving when the oms is away. Right now the process comes to a stand still if the oms goes away for the weekend or has a super busy work week. If there is an assistant, then they can share responsibility for settling disputes or filtering what needs to be looked at. In addition, two heads can be better than one when it comes to working on growing the position. The down side is that the assistant may not always agree with a decision the oms makes and vice-versa. If the decision is to go without an assistant then there needs to be a process in place when the oms is away or doesnt respond within a couple of days to a complaint or other issue.

I agree, and I think there should be a senior and a junior, but honestly i think its the Oms place to decide if and who. I'm not to keen on electing the support staff as you say they need to have similar thought processes and should be able to complement each other.
Still just food for thought, and another point in my "growing the position" stance.

Can't believe I never got a mention Bill

Regarding the assistant Ombudsman, perhaps the person with the 2nd most number of votes should be made junior/assistant?

I do believe there does need to be something in place if the Ombudsman has to go away or something. If this is a junior or a alternate proceedure then so be it but what's happened with Pianomutt has really highlighted the need.

well thats my point, what if the 2 are not friendly? or are too different in though patterns? It could be a rocky relationship. escpecially when one is veiwed as superior to the other. And if you had the job would you not want to pick someone yourself? like minded? time zones and such?
I mean either way is fine, I dont care, just trying to look at it from all angles. After all this is the voice of the people.

I see what you mean, then maybe at the behest of the ombudsman-elect would be best then. It's a tough call but certainly there should be redundancy

I had the idea that the former Ombudsman should stay on for a month to assist the Ombudsman Elect, I can spare that much time.
Gotta wait a month before my next anthrax shot lol.
Either way, I plan to do a handover. But when push comes to shove, the job will be what they make it.
Dundee - Not for or against ya, I don't know how you'd do as Ombudsman.
Bill
If there must be a deputy...He should be chosen by the Ombudsman. Or at least have a mini election and he chooses from the top 3.
Can you imagine if you put Jack as Ombudsman and then elected Nimras as his deputy?

I would just kill them. Seems like a better option than taking myself out.
