I'm fairly certain that Dadigi would not care if he no longer held the title "forum liaison" since it would change nothing on his side except that he would have less people nagging him. Digi being the liaison is more of a courtesy to the users by Digi than anything else.

what competition is the ombudsman to the liaison and vice versa.

The ombudsman communicates with mods/admins on behalf of users about FORUM issues.

The admin liaison communicates with Jason and forwards urgent issues (game downtimes, big cheats/bug abuse etc) and streamsline suggestions for the game.

The two positions do not overlap at all.

I do not know what you are getting at Tekki, but if the Forum Liaison is such a thorn in your eyes, I suggest you start a new topic about it. This one is about the ombudsman.

I think you entirely misunderstand the concept of the forum liaison position.

Jason has created a position known as the "Forum Liaison". This position will help to speed the delivery of important information to himself. This will include but not be limited to, Autobann script hits more then 48 hrs old, reports of ingame or forum server outages, Pressing account matters more then 48 hrs old, and the relaying of well discussed game suggestions. He will also culminate discussions and ideas Jason wants to explore using forum feedback.


This position is not everyones personal messanger to Forum. There is in place a system for the autobann script hits. We need to use it first. Give Admin Mark time to do his job before contacting The Liaison. Imgame or forum outages can be reported immediately, but do so once, not every 5 minutes. If you have a pressing ingame account matter then please use the normal means or resolution first, then if a response does not come contact the Liaison to speed the relaying of information. Do not use the Liaison as a first attempt to reach resolution. Do not report insignifigant or inconsiquential matters via the Liaison, deal with these normally. The Liaison will also help to relay well though out, and thouroughly discussed game suggestions. This position is something to help us so please do not abuse it needlessly.

Please welcome Dadigi as or new Forum Liason.

I 100% disagree with that. The community should have the right to know what is going on at all levels, so that we can judge for ourselves. If a mod/admin/ombudsmen does a bad job, but can be publically challenged, then it will inevitably have to be addressed and resolved. If its private any incidents can just be swept under the carpet and instead of being resolved the situation gets compounded until we have a really messed up forum.

There is no need for secrecy.

This discussion, getting rid of the Ombudsman does not belong in public as it is not the publics decision to do or not (At least this is what I believe). The community shouldn't have the right to know what is going on at all levels either simply because then you will have more **Filtered** going on that cause even more problems for the staff trying to make it a better place and uphold the rules. Even if some people think it is a load of garbage.

As I said, you cannot please everyone. Not everyone will agree with you. The only thing you can do is suck it up and press on while trying to ignore the insults thrown your way.

Just look at Clarkey, and the insults he received(well you probably have not seen half of them) for catching cheaters.

It is like a government doing some illegal acts to make the country benefit more. Do you think the people want to know? Sure. What will the outcome be though? Hippies and Green Peace everywhere screaming Government conspiracy.

Somethings are better not known.

Ombudsmen are humans (unless we have the mighty god Rex as ombudsman) and are biased too.

What is the point of having a biased being check other biased beings?
Having more admins would work the same as having an ombudsman as users can complain to another admin if something goes wrong...

We're not a country, we're not an alliance, we're a group of people on a message board. I hope that the admins arn't doing anything illegal to benefit us.... not quite sure what they could do that would help. Maybe sell drugs to pay for a new server, thats about all I can think of.

Each of us spend our free time here, although in different capacties. This discussion definately should be public, because the outcome will affect everyone. As for the rest, Lore is right. Ideally it should all be public, but there may be some issues with that. You can never please everyone, but you can do what is the best for the majority of people. Here the majority of users are generally respectful and don't cause problems, its just a handful that do. If every member could see what happens, but has no say in the matter, then there should be no problems. Its not designed for us to question every decision, just for us to observe how these very public forums are run.

Just my opinion, but thats what i'd like to see anyway.

One problem with this, on forums, there will always be somebody or more then one person questioning what you do. Always. Then comes the person who makes problems for the Admins/Moderators/Ombudsman.

This decision doesn't effect you all that much, since you will have three people to go to instead of one if the Ombudsman is removed. It just removes the middle man. Nothing more.
