I disagree with planets ruining the game. It permits each player to customize their account. Everyone has an equal opportunity to create the same layout.
I find that many players that **Filtered** the most about it, are the players that take the "sit back" approach to customizing their accounts. In otherwords, they
think it's all about big UP or big income and are trying to impress everyone with their large army size. All they do is bank their naq and train their UU. Then
when someone comes along and wipes out a chunk of that army size, they cry for justice and how unfair it is.

If you don't like taking on huge losses, then you can do one of three things...
1.) Build a similar layout to the one that just massed you and counter-attack.
2.) Build a defensive layout to minimize your losses the next time it happens.
3.) Invest in fleets to remove the threat.

Everyone has access to planets.
Everyone can take advantage of the planet glitch.
Don't cry because you made a poor choice in how to invest in your planets.

The thing with planets, is a lot of these 'good people' have these huges planets on permanent merlin or on ppt. Not everyone has access to the option of buying enough merlins to merlin 10 planets year around.

With out these planets, the 'good' people would be garbage. Its why I don't invest too heavily into planets. I'm doing fine without them.

An example of this: Blahh. Blahh's whole account was centered around his planets. When his planets were gone, so was Blahh. But now we can buy all of the merlins we want, don't even have to worry about a defence.

Planets are part of the problem, merlin devices are the main problem. Take that out, and planets will be just like all other stats, comming and going.

Unless someone is gonna put a 4-5 tril defence on each planet at the mininmum, no planet is safe without merlins. And even that will only buy you some time.

Based on your post, I'm guessing that you're not aware of the planet "feature" where you can actually bypass the 50% of your raw stat. You really only need to merlin one GREAT planet. Then find a bunch of crappy planets with similar traits in order to be able to fully utilize your GREAT planet's stats because it's attributes will be distributed amongst the other planets with similar stats.

Blahh got screwed because of the MS tech and fleet power updates, which were specifically implemented to screw people like him.

Reading your post, I feel like current situation regarding planets is far worse than what Blahh was. And as I said already, it reminds me of the bug related to Caspain, that got fixed afterwise. It was a feed account with nice planets when they got introduced, 150bil strike 99% from planets almost no troops/weapons giving no losses in striking (before 2007, back then 150bil strike was huge). With merlins and bug you described, it's making things even worse than the famous Caspain bug, which was meant to be the abuse incarnation of planets and showing its limits. Admin should *really* fix planets to avoid such bugs to remain.

UP planets got fixed. So should strike/defense planets to avoid 700k weapons/troops managing to have a 750bil strike in the end, blessing excluded.

What a stupid thread!

The only person destroying the game is admin. Nothing and no one else destroys it. The players use the tools that admin provide to them. ](*,)

Other thing that would destroy it, would be cheaters. Luckily, the admin has the common sense to not allow them to play.

people don't kill people, guns do :smt023

The accountability is ours just as much as it is Jason's, there may be flaws but who is beating them like a dead horse? :-k

So you are saying that if there is an oportunity i should not use it because of morality issues, or for the sake of my other competitors?

I have crappy planets, even the duals i keep merlined are below 50b in stats, I still mass and defend and kill stuff ;)

the introduction of Merlins and duals was indeed a inventive idea.
but when Duals became so god dammn over populated and with merlins becoming easy to access via $$ then larger players can well. dominate even esier.

i think the game has taken off too quickly and beggining accounts no longer hold any kind of ground.

worst of all if new accounts do decide to get larger bonus's exploiters will jsut untrain and raid newly made accounts.
given them a power edge.

SO where left with a vicious circle. that only leads further into a black hole of the demise of the game.

I agree to a degree, the fix would be implement the ascended type of attack option, if your too big or too small to hit then there is a nice buffer, now couple that with each empire and or power alliance excorcizing responsibitlity (for lack of a better term only) and not crushing new players..now the question here becomes, how can one actually tell if its a new player or some multi someone has on stand by to pot shot or raid off of or whatever other reason someone might have a puny multi hmmmm

thats what sucks about cheaters... they also do their part in destroying the game.
and mind you there are ALOT of undiscovered multi's

another thing destroying the game is lack of new players. Because, and I am thinking, if I came to play now sgw, I'd quit soon because I realised that there is no way I can get to be among the best, most of all due to $ spenders, but I'd quit even more, because pleople are not playing as they used to. People used to be more respectful and helpful with new players, just because now they are too ignorant due to they big levels Ms whateve...the are GODS they say. I happily remember when I began to play, I found players like ~Lore~, Tekki and Blahh who taught me a lot. They were strong even then, going for the top and still...they were nice people. The commander-officer relation was stronger, the team-building had more sense.
