well best is to be a section here so other members can view it incase GC's forget to include them int heir thoughts.

all GC's are in alliance leading position and they think as team leader not only players.


in my view in case a forum section then GC's shall start working on evidencing the problems of the game , the ones that are routing it downhill in terms of activity. once tis done then solutions that take in consideration : empires, alliance, small alliances shall be discussed while not stepping much in one direction. when a solution is accepted by GC's then its posted for general discussion in GW for feedback then forward to Jason signed by GC and supported by the community.

forum is the best way to work this issue due t being time consuming in thoughts and tests.

For those of you suggesting updates remember that you have to actually suggest updates that will help everyone, not just you. You don't like Houses because you don't get much out of them? Cool. Perhaps other players do. That is of course what discussing them is for, but please do not get solidified in your opinions about what is good and bad after just thinking about it yourself.

I didn't mean the SGW IRC channel but I did mean the SGW IRC Server.

The houses balance power towards the more powerful - that seems to be a general concensus that goes beyond the individual in my opinion

It was more of a generalized statement using houses as an example. Although I do disagree. Actually I don't really have an opinion on houses, but I don't see how they make the powerful players more powerful as you claim?

I suppose this can be saved for later.

Well the people and alliances with a stat which is gauged by the power of a person is being used to determine the voting system of the houses - thus making it easier for the powerful to sieze the most powerful houses...in my opinion

possible solutions:
- change the voting system
- cap maximum votes per alliance
- or scrap the houses

We can indeed look at it in futher detail

I should have a new shiny forum for ye tommrow or sunday at latest - ive to apply some mods to it after i install it and ive to get secctions sorted out - all people will have the same usage rights folks - and there will be 2-4 admins to keep the place ticking over and creating new sections and other admin magic . Is this ok and who do ye want as admins?

Cool stuff dude - once ive the system up and running (few bugs from lack of practive and a few mods ) we can decide who becomes the admins...think the best way to get that sorted is by timezones

mathlord and i (and JT when he registers) are admins for the mo but we are looking for a few more so that everyone feels confortable in the forum being run fairly and to ensure that there is an admin on most of the time

why not just set it up on a free forum with a url we'll actually be able to remember?

Just is easier to manage (browser bookmarks are handy i think instead of remembering) and it also means that we wont be getting slow access as people sometimes do on a public server sharing thousands of forums plus i run a free forum service so its what i do

easier how? basic ACPs are pretty much all the same

I don't see how speed is an issue, free forums work for pretty much the majority of alliances and empires

and if you run a free forum service, why can we not get a simpler url and one that is not a site for irish music?

I'm just saying, this doesn't need fancy. It just needs something quick and easy. Hell for that matter you could talk to the admins here about making a hidden sub section somewhere with a usergroup that only has access to the section with a few members of the council as group leaders to alter membership. Nice and easy, cause we're all here anyway

I just offered to set up a simple forum - its nothing fancy at all and I have the server so we thought - ah well why not use it...the url is a bit of a long winded one but its a simple way to have it on the server via an already existing domain name rather than having to set up a new domain name and then setup a new database for php and then setup a new FTP account to manage the actual files (i dont have an automated forum creation system in place as of yet with customisable domain names ).

As for public forums - my experiences with them have being slow at best...laggy and can sometimes go offline. Still your idea of a subsetion here could work well....would admin do it do you think?

I also agree that the first topic we discuss should be something superficial like graphics just to get the format, rules & procedures in place and agreed upon for the more important topics that will follow.

The advantages are:

1. The section will be operational as long as the forums are alive and thus won't depend on one single person.

2. Every leader & 2IC is already registered here.

3. There will be no doubt about the identity of a poster - as we all will be able to see their previous posts etc. There is no guarantee that someone could "steal" an identity and register using it on an external forum.

What my vision is for this is for us to have a forum whereas the council members can lay out ideas for the game, and be able to order them for presentation for change. We do not want this to be an exclusive members only but I do feel we need a setting where things will not get lost and buried in arguments that plaque all other areas of the forum. A think tank room if you will for efficiency and proper presentation of what we the players want. The ideas will come from ourselves and we will gather the ones posted already and order them as well.
