The point of that wisdon is that your were right there with your best mate when the trouble happened. As your were involved in the trouble you also get arrested as well. Thats why your sitting next to him.

@ Dox, HE and Kurnous - I will take all your words for it, I was just saying unless I was guilty I wouldn't go to jail for anyone, they aren't really your best mate if they want you to go to jail for/with them.

I still wouldn't go to jail for my girlfriend lol although it does make that saying worth a little more as I'd possibly be there with her i.e. the ole' story, guy tries it on in town, I hit him, we both go jail for the night.
