This thread is getting derailed again. It was not about discussing who you think is a good or bad moderator.

Let me remind you what it was actually about by repeating my question that still hasn't been answered:

But now, let's try and find a solution. Am I banned from making jokes about people being on PPT, alliance names etc. because people might be deeply hurt and personally offended by it?

I think all forum rules should be abolished and we should be able to say whatever we want, anytime we want.

I am most amused by some of the people posting on this thread. Examples:

"I've been pasted, let's disagree for disagreement's sake with that person on the forum"

"I wanted her, but she rebuffed me so let's disagree with everything she says."

"My friend has been legitimately banned, so lets cause some more trouble in the guise of trying to be 'reasonable' in debate".

"OOh how I hate those guys. They are too damned good at this game, and could probably kick my ass in real life too (too true lol) so let's talk crap about them wherever I can on the forum.

Too bad I didn't see any condemnation or ACTION when actually dealing with true dishonour like cheating.

Could people please stop holding grudges against accounts? An account can never be your enemy... it's always the owner

i'd say that answers that question. oh, and additionally, i posted this quote to the OTHER thread which got moved.

Ikon, this WAS solely a MOD forum topic, i did NOT become involved til GEISHA posted it publicly. who is the one who is at fault? the one who brought it to the public eye in the first place? or the one who responded with the truth?

I can't be sure because I am unaware of where that quote was taken from, but I am fairly certain that you are taking it out of context to suit your needs, I believe it was in reference to someone, a player doing something, then selling the account and someone holding a rudge that carried over to the player that bought the account, it is far from being even close to what is being discussed.

Not as bad? I'd say at least on par as calling someone a stupid prostitute. And as I recall there was voiced intent to break the rules of the forum and comments prior to that.

I'm not saying they aren't out of line Jake but Geisha pushed by calling Nuto a **Filtered** in the NYC get together thread. Cause and effect. Geisha's mock shock at her comments there being taken the wrong way was comical.
I'm sure Freespirit can tell the other mods how blatantly obvious the insult was if they don't want to believe the regular forum users.

Sometimes you can't restrain yourself, Geisha antagonized, Nuto responded in kind and then Geisha went into Mod mode to throw some weight. Nuto was none too pleased with Geisha's retreat behind her powers instead of staying on the level playing field and made her thoughts known. Each of the replies Geisha listed were just that, replies. She kept PMing Nuto, what did she honestly expect back each time?

Anyway, that was a previous ban, this one came without warning but this has gone off track.
Perhaps next time Geisha can leave a thread open long enough for people to respond where they are supposed to but at least it hasn;t been dumped so she is showing signs of improvement.

I do beleive we were having a nice discussion, because you (and a few others) where on the receiving end doest mean we where tearing each other apart.

It seems this is a good example.

Psi, along with lord balor, have made the point that YOU nor anyone else has the right to decide what people should be offended by. People either will be offended or they wont be offended. And even the person who it is aimed at dosn't "choose" to be offended.

Its not so much how its said as how it is perceived that deems it offensive.

Now hopefully the quote will help you understand this. What people perceived as a discussion, you perceived as "tearing each other apart". Much like how what you perceived as joking around, others saw as offensive? Wouldn't you agree? I certainly would.

That is the main problem from which this was originally derived.

This has nothing to do with the respect group members, nor does it have anything to do with the meaning of "respect". You could debate the meaning of respect all day and how much who deserves and why, and get absolutely nowhere. Fact of the matter is, You Geisha, and replijake as the two main aggressors, along with others, have whether intentionally or unintentionally, insulted certain members of this forum, claimed it was in jest, and that they shouldn't have been insulted by it. Well, they WERE, meaning that your little comments were perceived by the receiving party as offensive. Which doesn't necessarily mean you were being disrespectful, simply you had lack of respect for the power of words and other parties thrown into the mix.

This topic really should never have been brought up in the first place.

You said some things, others said some things, people took some things how you did/didn't mean them, people didn't like it, posts were reported.

Heres an Idea. Get the hell over it. Its not such a huge deal that it requires this much attention.

Sure some people may be easily offended, but you, as a person, and even more so as a mod, have to remember that that is so, and watch what you say, and know when it is getting to much for said people.
