I'll bet you £10 that you don't get past the quarter finals.

france will definitely make it out of groups.. and along with them will be SA.
i dont think france will just be beaten by mexico or SA the way they played today..
btw i was watching the news and they said that the manager of France left some key players out of the world cup squad.. anyone know who they were?

Benzema, Ben Arfa, Givet...
I'm sure Jim will be able to name more.

Patrick Viera is the only one who matters from the non taken ones..

Oh and Givet that DD named.
Ben Arfa well I don't think he is ready for world cup. The others either don't have level yet or are troublemakers. Those I don't want to mention being Benzema & Nasri. Lassanna Diarra was injured.
I think SA will beat or draw Uruguay, Mexico will beat Uruguay, France will beat Mexico and hmm beat or draw SA.
Edit: nevermind, Landreau was part of the 30 and didn't make thru.

Viera is perhaps the most important of those omitted yeah. You need someone with his experience even if he doesn't have the legs that he once had. And Givet too, one of the most experienced French defenders around. Far better than Sagna at left back.

Veira isnt even half the player he used to be, not sure why youd want him ahead of diaby or Toulalan who are both better players. I can only imagine him being a bonus for his experience.
Terrible game though, the uruguay midfield was non existant. Suarez seemed to forget about the offside rule. The left back peirra was top class though. 85 mins france loading the box and he just dispossesed diaby and ran the ball out wide to clear. Classy.
Diaby had a good game, ribery didnt show up. How gouvou managed to last 84 mins i'll never know he touched the ball about 5 times all games. That miss was brilliant.
You have to question playing your target man outside cutting in and your 2 best wingers centrally, especially when the only time ribery looked a threat was when space opened up to run into. He didnt seem capable of working in tight spaces. Similar to the CL when raf was down his throat all game.
poor game, but this group looks very interesting.
Edit
Sagnas right back...noone would displace king evra at the left

Do you think that that Uruguan sub broke a sweat before picking up 2 yellows?

Diaby made interesting game, I think Domenech shouldn't have picked Gourcuff and use him as substitute to Malouda. Same with Anelka for Henry, other way around. Henry as substitute, that's madness. Malouda is a player on fire, seriously put him as substitute that's also madness.
Diaby they said this evening, is the new Viera. Well, hopefully yes...

Sorry Tek, I made a bit of an error there. Givet plays centre half or LB and sure he wouldn't displace Evra but he is still a superior player to Sagna, and Gallas. I don't know much about Abidal but he didn't look too convincing either.
All your other points were sound yes. Agreed.

uruguay and france are at a lvl above the SA and mexican game play, thats just from my opinion..
u expect too much from mexico this year.. i think uruguay will beat them when they play.

Diaby is usually not as good as breaking up player.
Personally, Anelka starting was the right call. Henry is talismanic but he hasnt been on form and even in his short cameo he doesnt look sharp.
You should have lined up
Ribery--Anelka--Malouda
Tbh noone would have called gourcouff being that bad. Uruguays midfield didnt show up, he should of had a feild day.
I like Sagna personally, think hes a good fullback but like all good fullbacks (bar evra) hes suspect positionally.

I would say Gourcuff was most disappointing french player, and most satisfying was Diaby. Malouda could have been if he played more.
For tommorow:
South Korea beats Greece
Hopefully (unlikely though

) Nigeria beats Argentina
England beats USA
I don't like Maradonna, I don't want him to go anywhere near final >_<

Ribery looked totally outpaced I felt. Every time he got the ball in space he was shot down, the pitch did however look like it was made from ice.
Disappointed France didn't take it but that's football.
Now my question: What are the current group standings?
1 Mexico
2 South Africa
3 France
4 Uraguay
I ask in that order because as far as I know it's points => Goal Difference => Goals Scored => Least Reds => Least Yellows
