The reason - Is meant to be some scally gang member getting shot by police, so what ? Thats not new. And it only effects 1 gang, not hundreds of people. This is semi-organised crime, gangs not interested in justice for the gangscum who got shot, just interesting in lashing out at people who have more than them, and creating distraction to cover them looting.


The response - I see some people calling for mass police action and even troops on the street, clearly these people dont remember the 80s riots. Mass confrontation just leads to more injuries/deaths, and more long lasting hostility against police due to these injuries/deaths. Look in contrast at the more recent student riots, police held back and filmed everything, property was destroyed/stolen and after everything had calmed down the police caught most of worst rioters alone or in small groups in the days & weeks that followed with no resistance. This is clearly what the police hoped to do this time too.




My condolences to all those effected, lost homes, businesses, scared to leave their homes, scared for their children.

My contempt to the thieving violent scum organising and participating.

My fear, that while the rich keep getting richer, and the poor have no hope of decent jobs, affordable homes, good lives, this will happen more often in the years to come. Thats not an excuse for the actions of criminals, but it is an underlying cause.

Just hope that these won't escalate to something greater. The entire world is under emotional siege due to the economical crisis and all that it needs to burst into flames is a silly pretext and we do have a lot of examples from the past.

Believe me, living in a country where the policy of compromise is being used during riots, instead of the iron fist towards the rioting rabble, I can say it does NOT work! Because the police keeps annoying the suburbian thugs with its investigations etc...but when riots happen, they have to avoid more casualties..What the heck seriously? Is it the yungthug rabble that governs the nation above the law, nah, I don't think so. Therefore, in my opinion, gradual reaction should be used by the police. Let the rioters do as they please is a sign for them that they can start again whenever they want. They will be arrested afterwards, sure, but they don't care usually.

If State shows "weakness" and doesn't act tough against propagating riots, sure, there won't be casualties, but the thugs will feel they can cause troubles whenever they want, not in such scale as currently, but they will feel that the "shield of potential deaths" is around them, protecting them from a tough reaction. Why do you think in France we got often riots? These suburbs receive TONS of subsidies etc...anyone who says these places were abandonned by state are down right leftist liars (they cry for the oh so poor and bullied "ghetto suburbs" wah wah)! We got riots because the gov doesn't want (well more like cannot due to the number of rioters' "huggers" from national opinion) to act properly against them. I don't blame the gov, I blame the people who would side with the rioters if casualties were to result from police's reaction. Like if only cops/fireworkers/innocent civilians should suffer from riots, not the rioters themselves. Another case of democracy being abused by the filth.


It leads me to believe that a certain BNP might have increased scores in future elections. That's really unfortunate, but one can wonder, do these rabbles not understand that their stupid behavior "favors" far right party (whether it's France, UK...or any other European country) scores in elections? One can wonder also if they don't secretly work for them. Ah, that would be something big...

They don't seem to be political protesters against "Big Brother", if you ask me.. (picture from the dailymail) It's more like a bunch of thugs, like I said already countless times.

While I feel sorry for those affected by riots, judging by the scale and amount of people involved in these riots, I have a feeling that it has a little bit more to it than just being upset that police shot and killed a gang member. Or simply as an excuse to loot either.

So, go rioters, show your government you won't lie down and take it up the ass.

Sorry to any offended, but I can see the merit in a good ol' riot. And to those personally affected by them.. I hope you are safe and well as others have said.

Ehem? A riot happened in the very city I live, not 2 months ago. While neither my car nor house was burnt, I happened to be in the nearby area, not becoming involved... but observing. I have little sympathy for wealthy businesses and the odd car being destroyed. While burning individuals homes may be a step too far... The whole concept of a riot as a way to get back at your government, it has much appeal to me.

and then there's the whole fact of the media blowing things far out of proportion, to fuel the governments agenda... I'm not in london, but down here, things were nothing like the media portrayed it. I would not be the least bit surprised if the media there is overhyping the situation too.

Ah well...the best way to protest against a government is to destroy goods of your neighboors, that's a well known working thing. Not.
I'm sure something will change indeed. Citizens being homeless after their house was burnt, being in troubles because their car was burnt, being ruined because their shop was burnt. It's really for the better. Yes. Screw the people is the way to go! People like me have enough NOT of the gov but of the hordes of thugs who think they are above the law and robb, burn and pillage as they wish because they know a police answer would cause casulaties and that would cause even more troubles.

Did anyone see the video BBC keeps playing about the looters who stole from that guy's backpack? Made me lol....and just about summed up the people who are taking part in this "riot".

Lets get this straight - this isn't some kind of claim for anarchy; it isn't a protest about the recession or cutbacks; it isn't even about police brutality anymore. It's about anger and violence...and petty profit.

Meh, if they want to smash up a few shops and loot the odd place, then have at it. The main problem I have is with all the fires - some of these places are residential and could easily end up in someone dying, not to mention every time the fire brigade have to put out one of these fires there could potentially be a real house fire somewhere that they can't go to.
