Juliette - if you're coming to England then I'm definitely coming out for this meet up! ;)

Then that would be the courtyard, cheap pints & about 10 TV's with football streams & whatevers on sky at the time.

About events listed so far, my opinion (and presence) -informative value-:
dogs race - not really my cup of tea, but well if it doesn't cost too much to attend (not above £12-15), I guess why not from me, just for curiosity sake.. :P
professional boxing - it wouldn't interest me at all, I would find something else to attend while people would be there.
classical concert - why not, however my knowledge in that music genre is limited, just so people know..
MC vs Bolton - Never seen a PL match in reality, tempting tbh. But at a pub if not possible to go to stadium, is fine too.

MMmmmmm cheap pints.

Other simple suggestion would be to go bowling. We did it last time in Canterbury and it was enjoyable.
Also figure out somewhere to eat- cheap and cheerful would be nice. Pizza hut, Chinese buffet, pub food etc

Jim (Apophis Jim ;)), you're going to struggle to convince people to fork out to watch Man City (even if you can actually get a ticket). I certainly won't be going any where near that game. I'd rather stay in Blackburn and watch us play Villa at home for less than half the price.

I'm with Tek - get in a decent boozer (Courtyard - not heard of this one but trust it's good!) and have a good old knees up amongst GW comrades. If there is football on the box then it's a bonus.

Agreeing for place to eat to it not to be too expensive, as long as it's not a kebab, I'm fine! :D

@Louis, well, as I said I would also be happy with a pub with football on TV. :)

BUT. Don't expect me to get drunk!

There's bucket loads of places to eat in Manchester centre, it hardly needs planning.

And yes Jim (Jim Jim ;)) - PUB CRAWL!

I don't have driver licence yet, it's not to be the sober one, just saying I will not get drunk, not saying I will not drink alcohol. ;)

You don't have to do anything you don't want to. Don't worry about that. Although the general tradition is to force drinks down your throat anyway. Ok, that part is a lie.

I wouldn't want to turn an apparently (hopefully at least :P ) good meeting into a disaster for myself, thus wishing to avoid getting drunk. I know my limits though, fortunately, so it shouldn't -theoretically- be much of an issue. :)

Not me though. ;)
I learnt the lesson already about "getting drunk" (and in a 'foreign' country) and won't do the same mistake twice.
However, I must admit drunk people can entertain me and make me laugh. :-D
