Combat vessels arn't the only component of a naval fighting force. We shouldn't forget the potential for logistics/support craft. I know this idea has been brought before in another thread but I think its still relevent. I am in favor of implementing a "troop transport" class ship. In the episode where Anubis destroys Abydos he deploys his Jaffa through those massive dropships. I suggest that for every 5000 troops you must construct a troop transport to deploy them to the planet's surface. Realistically, the troops deployed through the stargate and rings are irregular shock troops, not the main invasion force.

i agree. It is also not uncommon for a weaker fleet of ships to overcome a larger one through superior strategy and tactics. if fleets are implemented, there should be some way to upgrade the tactics of your fleet, perhaps through buying support/logistics ships or something like the spy lvl button.

There should be a pre-scripted advantage for weaker fleets, not upgrading, cause again SMALL players would object that BIG player will be able to get it more fast, but everyone always stays around their level.
Ships, shouldn't be upgradable, maybe only technology research, but only to a certain degree (like siege and defense technologies we already have). Only MS can be upgradable. Other ships MUST be of pre-set strenth.

They have to be of pre-set strength or else they'll just be a bunch of mini-motherships. The pre-scripted advantage for smaller fleets is a good idea. The advantage could be attributed to the ease of coordination of a numerically smaller fleet. In the heat of battle communication and unit cohesion is more likely to break down within a larger force.

I would also like to see a time delay in building a mothership ...let'a have like some scientits that build it ...the more you train ..the faster you can build it

....I only think thsi would be a next phase ...
but at this stage only the mroe mothership and even the manning you rmothership with you army implenmentation would make a wholle lot of diference to gameplay & story like playing factor

I think it would be cool because then if you had a whole bunch of motherships then you could send them out to explore for planets and you could still attack people and defend yourself without a mothership. Would you have to outfit each mothership that you owned though. Because that would cost alot but its still a good idea.

i think you sould be able to outfit the mothership's with new tech. To increace its effectiveness. I also like the idea about build times. But instead of just alowing 1 MS being built at a time, u can build multiple but then it divides up the workers. something like-
I'm making 2 MS's i have 1k MS' makers:
500 Mothership makers building the: Defa (ha'tak) ETA: 23 hours, 06 mins
500 Mothership makers building theL Krea (Al'kesh) ETA: 5 hours, and 23 mins
This would i think be much funner

because u couldnt build a fleet in seconds. Each different class takes different amount of time to build. So if u wanted a fleet faster, build a army of small fighters (death gliders). But if u want a stronger fleet build Ha'taks but it will take longer to make the fleet.

enhancement!! How would it turn into a disaster like the planets did rofl... At least the fleet idea doesnt let people "steal, then remove ur ships from the game" like the planets do!!
