A better environment starts with YOU!

Same goes for overpopulation. My suggestion is the sea... Davy Jones's always been very forthcoming to desperate souls.

Just cause we do not understand somethings does not make them important. I cannot understand calculus, yet it still is important.

Dolphins auctually have a language of their own. Not like other animals, but like us.

i believe humans are actually the only mamals capable of crying

as i said before please state your sources for your statistics because they seem very unrealistic to me

to be honest there are so few vegetarians that they make no difference, the animals will be slaughtered irregardless and it just means more burgers for us meat lovers :-D

I believe that about 3% of the United States' population never eats meat (http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/food/vegetarian.html, group wise that is a lot of power. 3% might not seem like a lot, but compared to other groups it is (e.g., Gay, Jewish, Muslim).

Hey, I know for a fact that elephants are capable of crying. It was taught to me in high school. We even watched a discovery channel documentary! Peace! I think I am done talking for a bit.

I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area, and you multiply, and multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet, you are a plague, and we are the cure.

more meat for the meat eaters.

I've eaten things that didn't complain this much.

we evolved to eat meat, end of story

edit for fun

Lord Osiris wrote: When a deer can stan on its two legs and explain to me a quasar and its manipulations of the space around it. i'll support its continued existance.

hi , my name is bambi and im a cosmologist. a quasar or "QUASi-stellAR radio source"is the active nucleus of a young galaxy. They were first identified as being high-redshift sources of electromagnetic energy, including radio waves and visible light that were point-like similar to stars rather than extended sources similar to galaxies. While there was initially some controversy over the nature of these objects, the scientific consensus has been all but settled that they are extremely far away, extremely luminous, and very compact cores associated with the accretion onto the central supermassive black hole of a young galaxy.

thanks to wiki we all can be anything we want :D :D

isnt that why we no longer use our appendix?

Not necessarily. We haven't eaten as much plant material, and therefore having an appendix provides no benefits to not having one. This taken into account that the universe will tend toward a situation with the highest entropy, one could argue that it providing no advantage would have little use to remain there and functional. Energy and resources cold be spent elsewhere.

I don't know about evolving to eat meat. We have incisors, canines, premolars, and molars. The last two used for chewing and grinding(ie. plant material). If you look at the teeth of carnivores you will see that they have no premolars and molars.

We are built to eat meat and plants.

We evolved from hominids, which ate meat and plants, and therefor we are omnivores as we eat meat and plants.

thankyou Agent Smith :-D

humans must be the only species that in a survival scenario would worry about the ethics of eating meat

Kinda stupid, isn't it?

Your race is dieing, and you worry about harming the natural order, the harmony.
If you're really into that, why not just accept 'natural order' and 'harmony' both wish to see you dead? :) It is, after all, the order of all things to have a beginning and an end?

I certainly would hate to see Humans die out because they starved themselves to death, really. If you gotta go out, go out with a bang.

go out with a bang, thats very likely in our case. Many reckon that the human race will have wiped itself out within 100 years.

It would be very interesting to see what Earth is like without humankind messing everything up. How much damage to the environment is permanent and how long the non-permanent damage takes to be undone.

It would also be highly interesting to see what animals survive/evolve without human influences

I have never understood exactly how we are supposed to starve our race to extinction.... obliterating the world with weapons yes - mass extinction of other species, yes... but I don't understand how we are supposed to eat up all the food/water resources before starvation cuts back our population to manageable/sustainable levels.

There's your natural balance.

Assuming Humans use all available food sources, you're right.

However, an increasing amount of 'types' of food is being considered 'bad' for people. A million things cause cancer, and are thus to be shunned, and a billion other things cause a million other illnesses. Considering the long term-motive of people to eat less and less, to discriminate between what is 'good' to eat and what isn't... I'd say we'll end up close to starvation.

Perhaps, yes... the natural balance will bring Humans down, just like the pointers on a clockwork. The Wheel of Time, if you will.
What's rising to the highest peaks must inevitably and utterly fall to the deepest depths. Until such time when through their deficiencies and ruinous habits, Humans will have ceased to validate their existence... and cease to exist itself. Death comes to all... it is only a matter of 'when' and 'how'.

May the end be quick, and decisive. It has been too long anyways.
