I remember trying to get top 100 without building any shields or volleys on my ship, only fleets. Got to around rank 140 before I just couldn't budge much more, even with several tril in fleets. (Mind you, this was a year ago. I doubt it would be possible to get even that high with just fleets these days).
Congrats on succeeding in your goal. Such fun goals can add abit of fun to the game

this could have been done easier with AC lvl 27 & 10-15 mil uu as anti-spys. Ive done it before to get into G&R range & kept my UU as anti-spys for a week or so untill i had enough G&R to ascend.

Yeah its easy that way but its the challenge that counts
ive done it a twice but was very long time ago.
