The ice caps will melt. We will go into an ice age. The world will bounce back soon enough. It's happened before in the dark ages. It's history. Screw science. We will not all die, we will adapt and overcome. We humans think we are a match for earth. Frankly, that assumption is ludicrous. I am not too worried about Global Warming. Frankly I love the cold. All though food will be scarce, all that means is there are going to be no fat people, and a big amount will wither away and die. Sadly to say, it is needed. Our world is too overpopulated. Resources are spread thin. As each day passes we have to feed more mouths and hydrate more bodies. As this continues war will break out. Not over oil. Not over hate. The war to end all wars will be over survival. It will be over food and water.
Personally I am wishing to become rich beyond belief, and build an underground complex capable of sustaining 500 people.
Kiss your ass goodbye people. One day we will know war on an epic scale.

I'm inclined to agree with some of that you say but there is still a risk, the planet has suffered ice ages before and will probably survive another but how will humanity survive, the only people who will live are those with massive amounts of cash who are good for very little in a practical world, people like heads of state and major businessmen. who will provide food? who will provide clothing? who will effect repairs and dig new tunnels/build new shelters? basicaly, who will provide the manual labour that is taken for granted in our modern society?
In order to survive we need actual workers and you can bet your last penny that should an ice age come the workforce will be the last to be given comfy underground bunkers and extra warm clothing

I'm really curious to see what happens, though, probably not the good kind of curiosity.

Dosent belong here..

This section is relevant to the game itself, or to be more specific things contained within it and the local sites connected to it. Unless my white pixles are worried about some enemy coming a long and polluting my account causing global warming on my Up planets...then this belongs in this and that or the dump.

from all the research I've seen the final say on the scale/effects of global warming is still out.
however, I see nothing wrong with a little prudence. a push for better fuel economy in vehicles and reducing the rate of pollution can't really hurt us, and if the alarmists are right it may do us world of good.

omg! since youse started this....
1. global warming is caused by factors ranged from the distance between the earth and the sun, position of our solar system in the galaxy, ativity of the sun and other... the thing is not well known cos there hasn't been enough reasearch on the subject. but it seems to sorta come and go in more or less regular cycles. from these cycles we can deduct that global warming will last for between like 2k - 40k years.
2. presently global warming SLOWS DOWN. that is temperature rises slower than it did a few thousand years ago. same about the rising sea levels.
3. why do ppl keep whining about global warming but most of them go on holidays to the likes spain, caribbeans, canaries end ather places where it's HOT? (this doesn't apply to my caribbean friends)
4.

nothing will happen. just yer compass will point south instead of north and we'll see aurora borealis in different places than today. magnetic pole is moving constantly (that is today it's somewhere else than it was yesterday. moving north at 40 km per year) and managed to reverse (did even more interesting acrobatics) few times in the past. as far as i know no one died because of this.
5. the fuel economy thingy.
everyone knows that the more advanced a civilization is (we're not much advanced yet. just barely managed to master nuclear energy) the more energy it needs. so more energy-efficient stuff is always good and needed.
6. our civilization is too pathetic to be able to influence (let alone control) climate on earth. we might be able to achieve that level in 200-300 years (if we just put our resources into usefull things instead of beaurocracy. everyone wonders why it took the americans only 300 years (1600-1900) to get to the same level as the rest of the planet? where could we be now?)
7. if everythings goes well we'll be crying for global warming. heard about the dyson sphere? (but that's a far future).
8. anyways.
"The Earth is the cradle of mankind, but mankind can't stay in the cradle forever."9. al gore is an eejit.

pretty much agree with all of what you just said there. except the part about not being able to change the atmosphere/environment. if we were to detonate the nuclear stockpiles of every nuclear capable nation on the planet I'm willing to bet that would cause a pretty big change.
but I'm just arguing semantics at that point
